VtrebysRayban is also a Luxottica Group S.p.A., company, has a global monopoly. We are paying 4-400x too much for eyeware in general because of this companies monopoly. This includes their prescription, and sunglass subsidiary companies. Read the article I posted. In the future, can we try to get a MassDrop that isn't part of one of the Luxottica Group ? This is not a political statement, nothing against Italy, or capitalism; this is a consumer advocacy issue. Read my user name for a hint as to why this is an important topic. :-)

ConsumerAdvocateThere have been TONS of sales of American made glasses, or smaller companies. I've bought a pair from here not from a Luxottica brand. You just have to be on the lookout for them. If you bring up these types of issues, which are very valid, at the very least look at the history of what the company has done.

My post I can see how you inferred that meaning, but I was only referring to that one deal, and suggesting/asking the MassDrop focus more on non-Luxottica brands.
I went and looked up the last several brands of sunglasses sold via MassDrop, and believe you are right, there are a couple small/American brands (very niche, wood glasses, etc.) that MassDrop has run that appear to not yet be tainted by Luxottia. Did you know even ESS is a Luxottia company (via Oakley)?
In my quick research, I found that Luxottia has also purchases an insurance company for vision, so they are now representing the consumer side of the equation as well. That's some comprehensive monopoly. So oddly I find myself liking the Chinese company ZenniOptical, Costco, Walmart/Sams, they seem to be the only remaining legitimate (big box) alternatives to Luxottia.
According to Wiki, Luxottia owns: Alain Mikli Arnette Eye Safety Systems (ESS) Oakley Oliver Peoples Persol Ray-Ban Sferoflex Vogue Eyewear
The company also makes eyewear under license for the following designer labels:

ConsumerAdvocateThanks for that list, I think people should know it, for sure. I've specifically bought some sunglasses from Massdrop because I knew they were a smaller Company and the things were American made (I'm American and so is Massdrop so it's just a made in my country thing not an America is better thing). One thing I suggest is you email Massdrop support directly, they seem like the type that would listen. Give them a list of good brands and they will probably work to try and get them on here. Of course they are trying to do discounts here so they are at the behest of those manufacturers.
