I received my pens a few weeks ago, and to my happy dismay, I have tapped into yet another fanatic passion. I love the fact that this drop came with options. I picked the Poche - Leopard and Tasche - Pink. The Poche for myself and the Tasche for my wife. I have dabbled in Calligraphy a bit, but these are my first fountain pens for the purpose of general writing. The rest of this post relates to my impressions of the Poche. At first sight, like most people have commented, these pens are alarmingly small. My first impression was that there is absolutely no way I could ever hope to write well with such a short pen. However, once posted, the pen is just about the perfect length. The width of the pen was my next concern, however in comparison, it is no more narrow than a typical ball point bic. In fact it is a few millimeters wider. Nevertheless, the smooth portion above the nib caused me to instinctively grip the pen tighter than necessary to prevent if from slipping. Once I came to terms with the fact that this pen needs virtually no pressure on the nib in order to write on the paper, and thus I don't need to lock down on the pen to keep it from slipping , my writing experience became much more enjoyable. I was immediately impressed with the ink that came with these pens. I was prepared for the black ink to be watery with little saturation. To my surprise, the ink was very dark and saturated once dry. I was a bit surprised that I was only able to write one fairly small letter along with my initial doodles before the first cartridge was out of ink. Needless to say these pens are not designed for penning your next dissertation. I purchased a box of Waterman ink cartridges as replacements, and did notice a difference with the performance of that ink in this pen. With the Waterman ink, my initial line of writing was usually nicely saturated, but by the second line the ink seemed to be a bit thinner. My guess is that the flow of Waterman ink is not quite as good with this nib as the ink these pens come with (does anyone know what ink that is?). The feedback the nib gives on typical everyday legal paper is moderately noticeable. It is more than what you would get from any ballpoint pen, which took some getting use to. I imagine other inks would probably make a difference with the level of feedback. I purchased a Pilot Metropolitan fine tip during this time as well, and the feedback of that pen is significantly less. Probably not a fair comparison, but it may be of use to someone. All in all I am very pleased with this pen. It's beautiful to look at (my wife wanted to swap the pink one I got her for the leopard pattern I got for myself.) For jotting down anything from quick notes to a small letter, this pen works well. I personally have decided to keep green (or some other unique color) ink in this pen and use it whenever I want to make a note stand out. If you're planning on doing much more with this pen, you may want to consider something a bit larger, with a better grip. I'm not sure I like the Waterman ink's behavior in this pen, and will definitely be looking out for some alternatives (any ideas?). If this drop comes around again, and you have even a small curiosity in fountain pens, I would definitely recommend these pens. For the money, there is little chance you will get a better looking pen, and two of them at that. What they do, they do well. They are not top notch writing instruments, but they are a great introduction to fountain pens, and are great for small tasks, and they look pretty amazing!

SlurryIf you are looking for ink, I would recommend any Noodler's inks: they have a variety of lubricated inks, if flow seems to be an issue in the pen, they are well saturated on most any paper, and there is a huge variety of color. If you are looking for shading or lightweight inks, I recommend Diamine, Pilot Iroshizuku, or J. Herbin inks. Welcome to the hobby!
