Mys7ixA good sharp blade can cut through 6 layers of fabric. The key is to apply steady downward pressure as you move the cutter forward.

CarmageddonCutting mats made especially for using the rotary blades. Olfa makes them as well as several other manufacturers. I prefer my Olfa over all other I have tried.
