I love the color, but if the description is correct, an 8 minute auto shut off is way to quick for any quilter or even garment sewer.

goldogmomThat is my concern as well and why i haven't committed to the drop. It looks like only the TG1600 had a 30 minute auto shutoff, but it's more pricey

Shar245I really would like a longer shut off time too. Ok for regular ironing but not when piecing quilts.

goldogmomMy friend who quilts has this iron and she loves it. She said if you just touch or move the iron it doesn't shut off. I like to chain piece and then iron so I think it will work ok. She also said it heats up very quickly.. I wish it was pink, but if I can't have pink, purple is great!!

Pattypi321My friend says if you touch it it turns on so when you are using it for Quilting it doesn't cool off enough to notice. It heats very quickly. I think it will be nice when I'm chain piecing. I can press when I'm done. It heats up quickly.

LaNieceThanks, LaNiece. I chain piece when I can also. My ironing board is right beside my sewing machine so I can just reach over and touch it...didn't think about it being that sensitive.

Pattypi321Iron goes to sleep mode before shut-off and fully heats up quickly in about 10 seconds. Great for hobbist and quilters.
