I love this iron! I've never used the steam function in any iron before because they've all hissed and spit and leaked making a mess of my ironing board. I use the steam on this one every day and I am using way less starch as a result. I also like that it doesn't auto turn off for 20 minutes and when it does auto-off, it goes cold. My last iron was always a little warm to the touch when it auto-timed off and that didn't seem right. My only caution is to be careful when you place it down close to the edge of your ironing board. If it's too close to the edge, it may accidentally fall off when it rises up. I use the wider end of the board now just to be safe.

t-k-oI love the steam function. With a Steam-a-Seam, and the steam I get really flat quilt seams. I also use a spray called “Flatter” that makes seams lie down. The steam function is especially good when I’m pressing linen. In the Deep South we try to wear natural fabrics during the summers as it is so hot and humid. So both my husband and I have wardrobes of primarily 100% cotton, 100% linen, or a cotton-linen blend. We have some silk and cotton blends and the wrinkles just disappear. i believe, and I may be wrong, that tap water is recommended. But we are blessed to some of the purest artiesan water in the world, and it doesn’t gum up irons, etc like water from other areas. Our water doesn’t have too much iron in it, and is a perfect ph.
