Has anyone from Spain ordered this? How would this be taxed? Not sure where it would ship from. Thanks!
What was the price of this lens at the last drop a few weeks ago?
FrankE
$549.99... I bought one.
If you do portrait photography, get this lens. Creamy bokeh while sharp wide open. It's ridiculous.

Does it comes with the lens hood & pouch?
Williamcmw
It comes with the front and rear lens caps only.
EDIT: it actually comes with the following only - LC-58E Lens Cap LR-2 Rear Lens Cap
Williamcmw
Olympus never ships the non-Pro lenses with lens hoods.
I really wish this drop also featured the lens in silver.

Our vendor is only able to support the lens in black for this drop.

Makes sense but hope it comes up again next time in silve.
This was absolutely my favorite prime for my micro four thirds sytem, so sharp so fast and smaller than a kit zoom. This is the one lens I wish I could replicate its performance and size on my Nikon system. If you own m4/3 you owe it to yourself to try this lens.
Matthias_Lambert
Has me tempted to re-buy it and an EM10 just as a second body.
Let’s try the drop again!
@rrana that sounds great. Hoping the drop comes through.
This lens never disappoints for portraits. Razor sharp wide open. Usually use this lens during Christmas and birthday parties. It's a gem. I have used it for years.
Probably the best lens I've ever used. And I've owned a lot across many mounts--Sony, Pentax, Canon.
Why? Because it's not just good in one area--it's excellent in almost all of them.
Wide aperture Sharp even wide open, incredibly sharp stopped down just a bit Smooth bokeh Great build quality with smooth focus ring, metal feel, no rattles Very little chromatic aberration Little vignetting Unnoticable distortion (unsurprising given the focal length, but still) Compact given the aforementioned specs
Only downsides:
No weather sealing Not f/1.2 or f/1.4... but either of those would make it much larger and much more expensive
Fantastic lens image quality is super. For the mony I doubut you can buy a better lens for image quality.
I purchased this lens in a prior drop and it is excellent. If the focal length works for you, get it. Because of its fast speed, it is an excellent low light lens which also addresses just about the only criticism of the micro four thirds format...being more noise in low light pictures because of the smaller sensor. This has never bothered me and with this lens, and other fast four thirds primes, unless you have demanding needs, won't bother you either.
This is an amazing lens. If it wasn't already the gem of my kit I would jump on it in a flash.
This is one of those "special lenses". Amazing for portraits if you don't mind backing up a bit.
I bought this lens in the last drop, and it is absolutely fantastic!
This deal isn't as great as others. Awesome lens regardless!

what's the other great deal?
With 2 kids to take pictures of, I'm going to be happy to move off of my 50mm f/2 to this one.
I have this lens, and I can vouch for its quality. It's a little long for walk-around use (75mm, so 150mm equivalent on a Micro Four Thirds camera) - though it's usually always worth putting it on and viewing the world through a slightly different perspective. The image quality is amazing (especially for portraits, pets, food photography, and macro/closeups paired with an electronic extension tube), and works very well (for regular carrying) when paired with a fast standard/wide (I carry mine paired with a Panasonic 20/1.7).

very good lens...among the best right behind the Nocticron, but this is a very useless focal length for more people. The 45 f/1.8 makes more sense.
I rarely shoot telephoto, but whenever I can use this lens' reach, I reach for this lens. Photos taken with this lens are among the most reliably sharp and contrasty I have. Now when I look at many of my telephoto shots from my travels, I realize how much better they could have been had I taken them with this lens instead of the zooms I had used.

Made sure to bring this lens to Mexico last weekend, and I credit it for defeating the iguana's attempt to disappear into the shadows of the wall.

This lens are great but the price makes it not much of bargain. You can get these from ebay, brand new with free shipping for $560
zeniazenin
With a warranty? (I realize this is an old post but perhaps somebody else can answer as to whether this lens is available for $560 from a legitimate reseller)
dqniel
It would be a legitimate reseller but no, no US warranty.
Considering the m4/3 format, this lens is amazing. Would say besides Voigtlander, this is one of the best primes you can get for m4/3
I agree with all the previous comments - this is an amazing lens, one of the best available in the MFT system, and my absolute favorite among all the MFT lenses I own (O 12-40, P 12-32, P 35-100 f2.8, P 35-100 f4.0, P 100-300, P20, P25, P 45).
Another vote for this lens. Amazing sharpness, fantastic performer.
This is an amazing lens, this would probably be in their PRO line if that line existed when this lens came out. The only improvement I'd like to see is weather sealing. As far as sharpness, it's one of the best lenses out there.
spencerberus
agreed. weather sealing would indeed be nice to have...this lens is sharp with beautifully blurred backgrounds, about as best as it can get with this sensor size...
my favorite lens. add it to your collection and you won't be disappointed. I use it as a medium telephoto lens...
