An excellent general purpose zoom on my Om-D-EM5
I bought his lens to upgrade from the kit 14-42 lens that came with my OM-D-EM5. the primary reason I bought this was I was missing the f/2.8 aperture on the 14-42. I have now had the opportunity to use this for a few months and am extremely happy with my choice. The lens is very well constructed (I am a fan of well built heave lenses), balances well on the OM-D-EM5. It is compact but still has enough room for zooming and manual focusing if necessary. The bokeh is also very pleasing. The diaphragm seems well made. I was eyeing this lens for a while and when it showed up on MassDrop, I jumped at it. The shipping was also very quick and I had no trouble getting it delivered in India. Overall very happy with my purchase,

This lens, the Olympus 12-40mm f/2.8 or its rival, the Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8, is a must have for micro four thirds shooters. Just make sure your camera body has in-body stabilization as the lens itself does not have stabilization. The focal length is wide enough at 12mm to shoot landscape photos. At the narrow end, 30 to 40mm will shoot great portrait shots only beaten out by a faster prime lens. The speed f/2.8 is fast enough to get most of the needs done. At low light, you'll need to pump up your ISO though to compensate. The longer focal length tends to see a little bit of dropped sharpness but it's really only noticeable if you pixel peep. Below are some sample photos I took using this lens. You can also use the links to see the full size via Flickr.

Super sharp and clear in almost every part of the frame. I'm amazed by how compact it still is for such great image quality.
I just hope they make the focus ring tighter, harder to trigger occasionally, I did it so many times it's kind of annoying.

Great lens that pairs well with the OM-D system. Took it into the wetlands of Brazil and held up beautifully and image quality great.
