This has one review on Amazon so far. The review is pretty thorough, describing the sound quality as similar to an Echo Dot. A response from Pioneer & Onkyo USA explains that the focus of this device is more on home automation than on sound quality. The rep explains, "Audio is not the primary focus of this device, home monitoring is. It monitors temp, humidity, lumens as well as motion." He then continues to describe several use cases for these sensors.
Anyone considering purchasing this device should do so with the intention of leveraging its sensors and home automation, not its sound quality. In spite of the Onkyo name, the sound quality is not an upgrade over the Echo.

calraithIs it just me that thinks it's strange for an A/V company to put the speaker quality dead last in the design? The dot's sound is ok because it's tiny and super cheap, and if you need better, you can hook it up to something. That is your compromise. In a bigger device, I expect bigger sound.
