I'm waiting for watches to get smaller again. This >42mm trend is getting old.
The lugs on this watch are too huge and prominent for me. If this is trying to mirror the fat lugs of the current over-chunked Submariner, then I feel like they are barking up the wrong tree. Let's get back to slimmer lugs please?

FYI; this is a mineral crystal AFAIK and like others have said in this thread, orient's mineral crystals are pretty terrible. I had another orient with their mineral crystal and i could scratch it with my fingernail and it ended up cracking of course The newer Mako 3s are a sapphire crystal and much nicer in general
So I got this, and the watch looks great. But the movement seems fast - as in it runs fast. I set the time, and three or four days later, it’s a minute ahead. Anyone else experiencing this??

I do not have this watch, in particular, but +15 seconds per day is not unreasonable for a lower priced automatic watch. I cannot find the spec, but +15 seconds is within spec according to the internets people. https://forums.watchuseek.com/f410/new-mako-15-sec-day-626624.html If you want accuracy, quartz is the way to go, but they don't have the charm of an automatic (in my opinion).

When you take the watch off at night, have you tried laying it on it's side or upright. Sometimes just adjusting how you leave the watch can slow or speed it up and it will average out better over the 24 hour period.

Great looking watch. Yes, it could have a sapphire crystal. Yes, it could be hackable, yes, it could have this and yes it could have that, but honestly? It’s only $129 bucks! Who cares, it’s a good lookin’ watch.
@GavkoKnives I think you need one of these ;)
If it only came in a no-date version...
olli_tr
My thought exactly! And shorter lug-to-lug length. 51mm won't fit anyone under 200 lbs.
Beautiful watch, and very tempting, but too big, IMO.

Agreed. This thing is a monster. I have the Bulova Lunar Pilot and it is very close in specs and it is gargantuan. No to the XL for me...
Does this hack or wind? Sorry if it already says it.. but I cannot see it.

This movement does neither.

Price Dropped since I posted.
i dont know which one to pick !! haha the black or green dial. lol
pbciocon
Green. Black is common.
Why must I be tempted like this?
lt.doomsday
I broke down and got one..............
Perfect for Flav-o-flav! Can Toester lift his arm with all that weight? Was this watch designed for line backers and WWE champs?
To Massdrop, is this going to be the newer version with the 120 click bezel or the old version with the 60 click bezel?
usa shipping only? why?
WujekRada
Exactly the same question :(

Got mine today, woot! I took the metal band off and put on a nato right away. Those hollow end links are chintzy. But the watch is great value and beautiful.
toestor
Very sharp with full lum on the black nato!
I bought an Orient watch some years back. It looked very nice, but the crystal scratched very easily, and the watch band fell apart. I would be leery of these watches if they haven't upped their standards in the last several years. Mineral crystals scratch easy, spend the money on a watch with a sapphire crystal or at least get a K2 mineral if you have to get a mineral.

Looks great! Got it yesterday.
This is a great price. I have the orange dial one and it is highly beautiful to look at and feels very substantial. Pics don t do justice you have to see them in person. I ordered a white face one. Can't wait.
Wish they had the smaller sizes on this drop. Next time @massdrop?

"MAKO" was a few months ago and this drop was a "BIG MAKO" XL. Se be patient :)

The Orient Ray II is similar but smaller.
These are nice watches but from personal experience, I would advise against purchasing the FEM75005R9 Lumbrite faced model. The hands are exactly the same luminescence as the face and it is impossible to read the time in the dark. It is well worth replacing the mineral glass with an AR sapphire crystal.
No shipping out NA?

No shipping to outside North America, why not?

Massdrop has in the past had to respect distribution rights in other markets outside the US in order to offer up the deals here. I know it sucks, but that's likely the reason friend.
good watch,
I ordered the full lume dial, very tempted to add another one, maybe the green bezel. Please convince me not to do it :)

depends on the colour of the dial - i am wearing an orange one right now and i cannot complain
quantenfisch
Yes, you are right. I misread Mez's comment and thought they were considering purchasing another "full lume dial". Any other dial is perfectly readable in the dark. I have the full lume dial myself and although it is a good looking watch during the day, it is utterly useless at night (unless you carry a flashlight to read it).
shipping to norway?
Do any of these models feature a dial that is completely lumed?

The lum it puts out in the dark is insane. The markets are not lumed while hands are.

Thanks. Funny that you replied now, since I was just looking at mine (cream dial) earlier today, for no apparent reason.
Like a lot of the watches I buy, when I received it I fondled and admired it for a while and immediately put it back in the box, unworn.
It really is a beautiful piece.
Why dont Orient watches ship to UK . Its ridiculous I just dont get it. Orients own website is the same
brohoward71
It would appear that Orient does not have a distributor in the UK, which is sadly surprising, MD in the past has had to respect certain markets and the distributors in these regions. VAT and customs likely has something to do with also, but I do not know for sure.
brohoward71
There are two Singaporean based online watch sellers that will happily ship Orient watches to the UK. I have bought several through one of them (Skywathces)
Looks like a great watch, at a great price, but unfortunately a little too large for my wrist. For those it will fit...enjoy!
