In 1999 Swiss watchmaker Oris made the first-ever certified dive regulator watch. The company has been fine-tuning the design ever since. A good example is the Aquis Regulateur “Der Meistertaucher,” which translates to “master diver” in English. A layout originally used for scientific clocks, regulators display minutes and hours on different axes. Though unconventional, the design makes sense, as you don’t really need to see the hour when diving. Instead—because minutes are far more important—you can see them thanks to an oversized, lumed minutes hand, outlined in red. To match the red minutes hand is a red rubber strap, but there’s also a titanium bracelet included in the kit if you want to swap it out. Inside the titanium case is Oris’s own 749 28-jewel movement with a 38-hour power reserve. The 300-meter water resistant watch also has a helium escape valve and a rotating ceramic bezel.
