Blair_HeavenwoodWhat you feel is a comfortable and attractive sized watch for you is totally subjective. I have 7 1/4 inch wrists and feel comfortable with 38-42 mm watches. Also, this watch is very thick at 17mm. But it all comes down to what you're comfy with.
wonbulThanks. My wrist is 7.25 as well. I've noticed watches "change" thickness based less on diameter, and also thickness, strap type/color, wrist build, etc. My largest watch is currently a 42mm x 10mm Alpina, but it is so thin it wears small. A 47mm watch is only .5cm larger, but that equates to ~20% bigger by area. Hmmm.
Blair_HeavenwoodIt's tough buying without the chance to handle and try it on. It's a good looking watch and if it were 4-500$ I might gamble, but 1800$ no way.
wonbulI think the price is excellent. Oris quality/name/heritage, domed sapphire, in-house movement, mechanical altimeter. If this watch cost 4-500 I think it would be a piece of Chinese crap.
Blair_HeavenwoodI have a couple of 46-mm watches on my 7-inch wrist. The lugs are important. Huge divers tend to have down lugs, and other watches often have out lugs. With down lugs it's designed for normal wrists, since the straps go down 90-degrees from the watch. There is no air gap. You may or may not like the style, but it can't be said that the watch doesn't fit your wrist. With out lugs you may get an air gap, which arguably means the watch doesn't fit. One of my 46-mm watches has out lugs and a bit of an air gap, but I like it and have gotten compliments on it, especially after switching to a leather strap I bought here, so to me it's fine.
As for thick, I love thick. I don't wear suits. I don't even wear long sleeve shirts without rolling them up. 😀
