The cables on the SE line or pretty weak if your using them as a daily driver. I got about a year and three months out of mine. My friend got about 6-8 months out of his but he is using them for 10-12 hours a day. I'm on a FiiO RC-SE1 a $32 replacement cable I'm happy with it, but its a bit short. I would consider this if I Knew it would last me the next 5-10 years IEM's and earbuds just end up being more abused. then other types of headphones.

yakuindomoI don't think any earbud cable will ever last you 5 to 10 years. More likely, it'll give out after 2 or 3 at most. Like you said, IEMs just tend to take more abuse.
