rwoanGood point! The Haven is awesome because it is multi-functional. You can use it as a single-seater, and also as a double-seater. That said, the Coast can fit a spray skirt and has a closed cockpit, so it is designed to handle a bit more spray and chop, and is a great boat for camping and longer expeditions, because it can accommodate a lot of gear.

rwoanAt first blush, yes, however as always, the devil's in the details. While the Kickstarter purports to offer the Oru Haven for $999 (+ Shipping) when you drill down they happen to mention another $1000 will need to be paid prior to delivery. Especially misleading given that it clearly states 56% off of $2299, as if that was the final savings amount (actual savings ~13%).
Ultimately, I question whether Oru really wanted to sell a kayak at all. I was stoked to get in on this deal, then saw how it appeared to be undercut by the kickstarter and decided to throw my lot in there, only to be taken aback by the jiggery-pokery taking place there. At this point, for me, all interest in this product/company is lost.
TomaCzarThis is clearly a financing deal for people who can’t foot the whole bill upfront. I actually do own their Coast model. These are truly great products.
