f266No its too basic but the components are small so the soldering will be a pain you will have to solder the mmcx connector on and strip the wires without screwing it up too many times cause the wires inside the iem housing will be short so there wont be much tolerance for re cutting and restripping the wires(also if you break the solder joints where the wires connect to the drivers inside the housing you have a good chance of screwing the iems up if you heat that assembly up too much and desolder the drivers from the assembly well it doesnt say it has BAs but I dont know what a "10 mm CCAW double cavity driver" is tho BAs would be easier to mess up I assume watch soldering on driver components cause the soldering heat could ruin them you shouldnt have to do this if you keep the wires connected in tact but digging in this stuff could lead there and if your new to soldering its not easy to get it done fast fiddling too much soldering something on means it heats up more and for longer and it can burn). Get a 100 pack of mmcx connectors type 100pc female mmcx into ebay and aliexpress and choose one this is the best bang for buck but you might not need 100 so then just go for 10pc but those will be allot more per connector. No guide for dremel modding just gonna have to wing it(or somehow grip the housing in a vice(without damaging it but holding it firmly have to figure out solution for that) and use a drill press this would be more accurate just find a bit about the size of the female connector lip) the lip of the female connector should stick out(the round part that the connector snaps into) this is how big you will want to dremel a hole the square body of the mmcx connector will have to sit within the housing and youll have to mock it up and look at it to see how much room you have etc etc. Then get a Steinel PURGlue 50 gun and cartridges or it was called Titebond HiPUR but that version was discontinued(there are used ones still on ebay this is the strongest most durable glue I have ever used you can use superglue but likely it will embrittle and break like superglue always does but its much cheaper and you could just re superglue it dont get super glue inside the connector or you will have to strip it out of there and foul the connector surface or you could soften it with acetone but then this might get on the glue holding the connector in place and then it would loosen). The Steinel Gun is like 80 used and each cartridge is 10 bucks but a good side benefit is if your shoes ever fall apart this is the glue from god(just never wash them in hot water or expose to high heat) so really I find PUR glue an indispensable tool.
Oh yeah I forgot often iems use special resistive solder that I read a little about(forgot exactly what they called it) but I have yet to source any. IEMs are actually much brighter than what you have heard and they use this resistive solder to calm them down and smooth them out. I know on some of mine they use this both on where the wires connect to the drivers and in the TRS jack(Ive repaired TRS jacks on headphones and it changed and made them way brighter and more aggressive when i resoldered it with silver solder) Maybe you just want to use regular non silver containing solder for this job and it shouldnt color them too much assuming the trs jack of the cable off Ali has it on there and its still inside the iem. Another caveat why this job might be kind of risky for someone new. I was thinking of doing this myself but risk analysis of this makes it a bit trickier than I originally thought.
Oh I did find someone who did this on Head-Fi these pics should help you visualize what I was saying. That resistive solder might be tricky tho I need to find that asian page where I saw them talking about it. I think it was on an iem page but I dont remember the model now.

You will need voltmeter continuity tester to see where the electricity is going and use pinout diagrams for trs jacks(just search trs pinout on google)(so you can match the wires to what signal is supposed to be on them) so on so forth but the mccx connector is fairly basic there are only 2 conductors the inner pin insulated with plastic and the metal housing so likely one is signal and one is ground the signal should be inner pin(the ground pin or return pin should always be the heavier gauge wire and the outside of mmcx connector has more metal mass and likely lower resistance(the point of having the ground or return heavier gauge)which is standard practice of cable design in headphones). Also some people say 2 pin is better because mmcx loosens over time then dirt can get in there and you have to clean it out to get good connection again plus they can spin which loosens them over time as well but it depends on the setup sometimes methods are employed to stop the spinning also people say not to pop the cables on and off all the time cause they wear and loosen. Theres also the what is often referred to as the westone 2 pin connectors those have cables on aliexpress as well like below but I havent searched out the jack connectors yet or ever know what they are called......
Dont make your own mmcx cables there are plenty OCC(study this term and learn what it is then demand it really every voice coil and audio component should have a standardized law requiring it especially tube amp output transformers) Silver plated copper and full silver(maybe u would want to make these but your not on that level yet). Just get OCC silver plated copper iem cables off aliexpress with mmcx connectors for 7-20 bucks and use those. Sure are pretty they may turn green over time but will still work if it eats through tho you might have to switch it out hopefully in the future they get the quality control down this doesnt happen(in my experience this only happens if the ends of the jackets are not sealed and moisture can get inside so you migh look into that when you get yours and seal them with some kind of glue) if the ends are sealed right. There is higher quality in the west but its super ripoff prices.

Soldering is not cheap but if you are going to be in audio for awhile it will pay itself off in the long run especially if you make your own cables like I do.

f266That must have been months ago yeah they talk about the KZ ZST and KS3 now the KZ ATE was considered old a few weeks ago when I read them I think they predate the 11.11 sale and that was a turning point and when the LZ A4 was gonna come out I was about to get those but I got the Nuforce Primo 8s instead(Ill get the A4s in a couple weeks). Oh yeah this one was recommended on the ChiFi threads.

These tingos come in 2 pin both ie80 and tf10 and also mmcx shure se215 type connector. You have to look closely at the sale pages cause they list all 3 connectors but no choice... do you send them an email? thats always risky and they might send a random one read closely below and see which one its for or send them a chat and ask(before you buy). Tingos tho look like the best 7 dollar cable. I think in french it shows more selection than aliexpress does to the usa likely because of the way the chinese set their shops up(which is odd they prefer to sell to French).

ridhuankimTingo cables are best I later found out they came with more than just the one style of connector but that was another install. I may dig around on aliexpress again and find those also I think they cheaper on Taobao but that needs a Taobao agent which you have to study that whole process. Also these links are getting old might be something better now. Just ordered the Cavalli Liquid Carbon X so I'm still around here. I noticed they changed the comment system now tho so it hides my huge posts so now huge posts in the future im going to have to start my own thread...................
