I'm a filmmaker, looking for a solution for my surround sound. Currently, once I get my 5.1 sound back from my post sound guys, I have no way to listen to their sound within premiere in 5.1, so I can't check the recording until I'm actually sitting in a theater at a festival listening.
With this, will my premiere files playback in 5.1 (they are set up in 5.1 inside of premiere)?
In other words, will it work with Premiere Pro? Thank you!
DarvsHi Darvs, Yes, it should work in Premiere Pro with 5.1 audio. Out Of Your Head appears to the operating system as a 7.1 capable sound card. So, in Premiere, you would set it to output 5.1 or 7.1 to the Out Of Your Head Virtual Sound Card device. Then from within the Out Of Your Head Control Panel, you can select your actual 2 channel output device such as a USB DAC to your headphones.
Then you will be able to hear your 5.1 mix as if you were sitting in a room with up to 8 speakers. You can even use the Egyptian Theater preset to hear your mix in an actual movie theater. The other recording studio presets like AIX or MiCasa will let you listen in a calibrated 7.1 recording/mastering studio.
But, just to make sure Out Of Your Head works as expected, I encourage you to download the trial and make sure it works with your specific hardware/software configuration.
I have other customers who are recording engineers who use Out Of Your Head in the field or while traveling to be able to hear their multi-channel mixes.

Darin_Fong_AudioThank you - I'm traveling for Thanksgiving, but will download the trial as soon as I get home. What a brilliant thing you have made.
