I gotta say, this smells like snake oil to me lol :) No offense to programmers of this thing but how can software emulate top-end hardware if it goes through low-end stuff anyways?

OneLoveHi OneLove, Thanks for the suggestion. I haven't tried it for my skin. ;-) Here's what Tyll Hertsens said early in this discussion regarding your snake oil comment: https://www.massdrop.com/buy/out-of-your-head-speaker-software/talk/73008
But the beauty of this product being software is that you can try it fro yourself and be the judge. It's not like hardware where you have to either buy it or get a loan before you can do a snake oil test. With Out Of Your Head , you can do your own testing before you buy anything and see if it does what we claim for you and your system. If not, no problem. I know it's not for everyone and it sounds different to different ears.
All we ask is that people try it for themselves either with just the online video demo or download the trial.
If you still don't care for it, that's fine.
Thanks, -Darin

Darin_Fong_Audionice use of Tyll's name. I wouldn't trust a single review by Tyll and nobody gives him credit anymore. Dude doesn't know what he's talking about and he's tonedeaf AF

UzuzuIt really is worth trying. I had a lot of trouble with clipping initially but Darin was incredibly helpful. Once you get it dialed in its great.
I haven't used it much for music but for 5.1 and 7.1 movies it is remarkable. Have been waiting for this drop to roll back around.

MHP_sdHow did you address the clipping, I just got the trial for my windows PC to try this and I'm getting horrible clipping and popping, eventually it subsides, but is kind of random. Thoughts?

djfluffkinsHi djfluffkins, There are two possible reasons and solutions for clipping.
If you are hearing clipping during louder parts of the audio source material, then the best way to avoid that is to turn down the internal volume control on you media player app. Not all media player apps have internal volume control.
For example, in JRiver, you must set it's volume control to "internal" mode and then adjust the JRiver volume down until you no longer hear clipping.
If your media player volume does not actually change the volume level feeding into Out Of Your Head, then you can adjust the input levels down in the Out Of Your Head Control Panel. Just know that the levels you set are saved with each preset separately so you will have to adjust the input levels for each preset.
If the clipping or distortion is happening even during software passages of audio, then you may have to "reset" your output device. To do this, the easiest way is to switch back and forth between output devices listed in the Out Of Your Head Control Panel. Often I suggest enabling your built-in audio device so that you can see both your DAC and the built-in audio at the same time in Out Of Your Head. Then switch between the two of those. We are working on fixing that bug, but it's hard because it's intermittent.
