Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

I've had issues with this on foobar btw, but works ok in JRiver and VLC. Not tried yet with powerdvd and movies. Problem with having this as a virtual card is that I cannot figure how to export decoded DTSMA audio before output of my soundcard (even if virtual like this one) so that this software would use PCM decoded from DTSMA, powerdvd seems to want to decode the core audio I think. The only way I've gotten DTSMA is to bitstream it out from HDMI and then have it decoded to lossless PCM externally.
Also, your Mac trial will not work with Yosemite, in either of my dual boot Macbook Airs. I don't have Mavericks installed and cannot reverse, so IDK maybe it's stable there.
Only the windows side works. Also, one of my Windows machines that is a Macbook Air 2012 stutters with this program in Windows 8.1 bootcamp, doesn't matter Foobar or JRiver. This renders this trial unusable on that machine.
However, I've essentially only go this to work on a 2013 Air in Windows 7 bootcamp for the trial after half a day (4-5 hours of futzing and messing around with it.
For all that work this is worth a $100 program max, simply because it sounds nice. I think the $100 with 2 presets price would be a more reasonable package to consider in the future.
I do want to commend you for creating this program, it sounds great! This is why I'm willing to give you a shot with this drop. I just don't see it as a premium software from my impressions.
The software seems like it's the old software developer situation of I made it back in the early 2000's and its good enough. No need to update it.
I know for a matter of fact developing with Mac OSX you can preview your app/software on newer OS versions well in advance of the release of newer OS's.
This software is something I have been looking for. Sounds amazing easy to use after the hurdle of the initial set up. It bestows a sense of realism to headphones that is unmatched from any setup.
My hat is off to you @Darin_Fong_Audio you have developed a true piece of art here. However, I wish that the price tag would offer me more incentive, have no bugs, and routine updates with larger improvements.
FYI, Out Of Your Head for Mac was released on September 17th, 2014. It's a little over a month old. So it was not made a long time ago and never updated. If or when I get approval from Apple, then I will provide an update to fix the installation issue. Believe me, I would LOVE to be able to update the installer so you do not have to enter commands in the Terminal. It's not like I don't care, as you suggested.
As far as pricing goes, there are a lot of ways to look at pricing and value. The only other way to get a similar effect as Out Of Your Head is to buy a Smyth Realiser for $2910USD. Those are your two options. (I am not saying that Out Of Your Head is the same as a Realiser. It's just the only other way I know of to get a similar experience.) Yes, you can use other free options like crossfeed but in my opinion, it's not the same.
Pricing also has to do with volume, of course. I admit than we are a very small company and I also wanted to start off slow to make sure I can provide good customer service. I certainly value your opinion as far as pricing goes. Pricing software is a very difficult problem due to SO many factors. Would I sell more if the price were lower? Sure. Would that be better for you? Sure. Would that be better for us? I don't know.
Regardless, I really appreciate your comments. If our software was perfect and bug free, would I sell more? Yes, most definitely. Routine updates? Well, after a little over 5 weeks from releasing version 1.0 of the Mac version, we have had 5 updates so far. I am not saying that's necessarily a good thing, but at least it shows we are striving to improve our software.
Thanks, -Darin Fong
For VLC, try this: http://www.bbroy.com/2013/05/how-to-change-vlc-audio-output-to-5171.html
I believe Cyberlink Power DVD Ultra or Live does support DTS MA decoding. I need to try it again, but at the bottom of this page they list support for DTS MA: http://www.cyberlink.com/products/powerdvd-ultra/compare-versions_en_US.html
I will admit that the release of Yosemite did take us by surprise a little. All our development was done on Mavericks. Again, we were struggling just to get Out Of Your Head working at all on OS X. To be honest, I am thankful that the only issue we have found so far with Yosemite is the code signing of the KEXT (driver) which is more of an administration issue than a technical issue. It's unfortunate there are any issues, but there's nothing I can do about it now except wait for Apple.
Again, what you have developed is an amazing product. I don't necessarily agree with the pricing especially around presets. But, hey great support and a very appealing product to any audio lover.
