I want to try bivy camping but I suspect a tropical jungle isn't the best situation to use this particular bivy in, is it? I suspect the humidity alone would mean I'd wake up in the morning in a swamp. Can anyone confirm?

swimifyThat would depend on if you try to use it zipped up. The moisture in your breath won't vent fast enough and you'll probably have condensation, imo.
I used mine at about 6000' in a white out under a pitched tarp and had major condensation. I had it unzipped and had the fly draped closed to retain heat only for about 30 min.
I've also used it in the summer with the fly wide open and had no issues at all.
One major gripe I have with this bivy sack is that if you want to roll back the fly it doesn't like to stay rolled back and there's no way to secure it that way.
Another major gripe is that unless you guy the hoop somehow (can't remember if there's a sewn point for this) it falls toward the foot if the fly isn't zipped closed which allows the bug net to droop down and touch your face...mosquitoes feeding frenzy. I wish OR would address this flaw somehow. Maybe a second hoop that would keep the zipper more fixed and less bug net so it remains taught without the fly zipped.

Fuzzymuzzle I do plan to use it with the fly open, so I'm going to give bivy camping a shot. Thanks!

FuzzymuzzleI put the bug net zipper through the guy line loop. Tie and Zip. Stays up most of the time. Use my hat brim as prop above my head to give even more room for the bug net. Let me know how it works out for you.
