Well, hopefully this jacket will keep me warm enough and dry enough on El Camino Norte in late summer/early fall. I have some merino tees I can layer with it. That will be it's sole initial purpose.
CamigaI've got 2 pairs of ferrosi pants, probably perfect for what your intending. That's assuming your bringing a rain shell and a light puffy. This weight softshell is good for shedding very light precip (but dries super fast), blocks light wind and adds a tiny bit of warmth in a layering system. Excellent for not overheating though, because it breathes well.
FuzzymuzzleThanks, I am using a poncho since it will serve as rain protection, covering my pack as well as me, and double as a ground cloth if I need to sleep outdoors. I have a couple pair of Patagonia Venga climbing pants/capris that will be my main wear and a merino hoody for layering with the soft shell. Puffy for the mountains will double as pillow and the massdrop down blanket and a silk bag for sleeping.. pretty well set on gear choices at this point. Haven't checked my weight yet, but soon.
