Two of Outdoor Research’s best-selling pants, the men’s Foray and women’s Aspire provide reliable protection when a downpour sets in. They’re made of Gore-Tex with Paclite 2L: a durable, waterproof, and breathable material that shrugs off wear and tear, whether you’re in the backcountry or closer to home. Along with three-quarter-length side zippers, each pair has an elastic waist with a drawcord for fit and articulated knees for freedom of movement Read More
These pants are excellent. Love the cut, particularly the taper, which is great for bicycling. They replace a 15 yr old pair from Moonstone (RIP). The lack of side zips is interesting. Makes them a bit slimmer and lighter, and perhaps a bit easier to put on and take off. But, it prevents one from accessing the pockets of any pants underneath.
CromulentI don't have these but I own the foray jacket for material reference. Whatever. I climbed in February. You might use these on summit day and/or the day before, but you'll more likely be comfortable in knee zips for the whole trek. I brought a softshell pant,a lightweight knee zip, and a smart wool base layer. If you're willing to have the extra weight, I don't see why these wouldn't be an added comfort. Never had issues with breathability with my foray.
