I've owned my Seattle Sombrero nearly 20 years now. It's been packed, smashed, flattened, and otherwise treated pretty poorly. I've been all over the world from the drizzle of the UK to the monsoons of India. The hat has been warm at times, but I've never had it leak. When the forecast calls for rain, this is grabbed. Much prefer over a hood as it keeps my ears clear and is generally quieter. Not exactly light, but when it is just pissing rain and you want to stay dry, this does it. I wish I could find a jacket that would hold up as well as this does. I recall at least 4 jackets while I've had the hat and there is likely one or two more.
If I had to find a fault, it might be the drips I get right in front as the brim flows some of the rain off that way. This isn't a real serious issue and the brim is wide enough to keep them from falling on anything, but it can get annoying if you are trying to do something and have these drips fall on your work - especially if you are writing. (^_^)

Mr.Dudehaha, I came to say pretty much the same thing! Mine is going on 20 years and it is still just as great as when I bought it. I came to look at the drop but I can't bring my self to get another since mine is just fine! It has been stuffed into pockets and bags and just keeps on preforming! The fit is great and if it is windy you can use the strap, otherwise I stuff the strap in the hat and just wear it without problems.
Don't hesitate here, this is a fantastic product and will last forever! Like the Dude here said, it just doesn't die!

mdicarlohaha, I was at a football game last week in horrendous rain, took the hat and it kept me dry. Not bad for a 20 year old hat!

DetexJust bought one for $33 it's sort of a plum color, afraid my trail name will be plum now, as my Deuter pack is also purple ;-)
