Amp heads don't use wood to generate tone. You can put an amp in a pillowcase and it'll sound the same as one in stainless steel. You can argue that cabinets could be affected by the wood (most are made of plywood) but amp heads with tone wood is just asinine.
Too much marketing gobbledygook aimed at people who don't know any better.

PersonmanActually, they never once claim it affects the sound. If you look them up what you will find is that Panama does make tone wood speaker cabinets but what is unique is that Panama uses these tone woods for both aesthetics on the amp heads and for sound in the speaker cabinets. You can order something similar from Mesa Boogie but the tonewood finish on your amp head is going to cost the as much as this amp just for the wood panel in the front not to mention the 1300 dollars + for the amp. If you want the whole amp head in a hardwood it is going to cost you an extra grand and goes up the nicer the wood. This amp, if this is the sound you are looking for, is a bargin!

PixelPusher21Tonewood just has a very specific meaning that isn't relevant to an amplifier. You could also say "exotic" or a number of other descriptors, but tonewood is talking specifically about the contribution to the sound of a stringed instruments. And I think most people view tonewoods in speaker cabinets as a gimmick more than useful contributor to the sound.
Regardless, looks like a handy little amp, and we're off in semantics land :)

PeterLandryYay to the semantics because you are right, but..the point is that no one claimed it affects the sound and when it comes to speaker cabinets for musical instruments like guitars, its all subjective when the amp is distorting this much. You are looking for variations, not replication. If guitar players wanted speakers that replicated the amp there would not be such a large aftermarket speaker and speaker cabinet industry for instrument amps. This aint HiFi, its rock and roll. especially with Panama Guitar amps from what I have learned today. Clean is not their thing.
