Don't see where you get that about a memory card... You can pick up an ample one from B&H for $20.
If you've never used a super-zoom/bridge camera, these are really incredible additions to your camera collection. Perfect for vacations or wildlife shooting--birding in particular--and anywhere you don't want to cart your entire system (e.g., a full frame body and the 3 lenses it would take to get this 25-400mm 135mm equivalent coverage).
I don't know what poll this was based on, and at $760 (including shipping) it's about 5% cheaper than on B&H and Amazon (tho similarly priced to package deals on Amazon) and therefore a "good deal" in an incredibly low-margin business, but unless you're attracted to (a) the 4K video recording, or (b) the fast f/2.8-4 "Leica" zoom lens, I don't see why you'd pay so much with other options out there (e.g., the Panasonic FZ200, with a fixed f/2.8 lens and 25-600mm zoom for $400, or the Sony HX300, with an f/2.8-6.3 24-1200 (!!!) zoom, also for $400).
You can't really be getting this one for IQ, right?

climbrocksYes it would be for the IQ. The FZ200 (for example) is 12mp, and a much smaller and older-design sensor. Sensor size matters, bigger sensor sites are typically lower noise, etc (but, larger lens for any given zoom range, because the laws of physics still apply.) The aperture range on this camera is less variable, only one stop across the whole zoom range. 4K video not on the other cameras. Much better and faster image processing, and much faster auto focus. Worth reading the review on DPReview. This is one of the best of the bridge cameras. The only reasonably comparable camera is the Sony RX10 - same sensor size, constant aperture, but more limited zoom range. The new version closes the gap on focus and video capability, but is more expensive. Can't speak to the deal, but the camera is a category leader.

climbrocksI get that FZ1000 have better IQ due to its larger sensor, but you also pay a lot more for that. I bought an FZ200 last Thanksgiving for less than $300 (it was on sale at multiple online retailers), and I have been very happy with it so far. FZ200 has a much longer zoom, and a constant aperture of f/2.8 throughout the entire zoom range. At FZ1000's price point, many people may go for SLR system for even better performance, especially if they do not need strong zoom lens.

EdinNJAgreed. This is the camera to buy if you are in the market for a fixed-lens wide-range. Was my top target during the shopping season until I went for an A6000+Prime in the end. Couldn't get the FZ1000 for less than $700 back then.
