Maybe the response video should be posted alongside the Review video within the description? I'm not sure if everyone would be thorough enough to check the comments before making a decision.

I actually do some amateur leatherworking myself. From looking at the pictures, the edges look oddly rough? And yeah, dyes will rub off if not sealed properly, but it's relatively easy to do that. I use oil-based dyes on veg-tanned leather, and the sealant I use... Uh, I'd have to go look it up. It ends up being water resistant, to the point where I can wear it outside in the rain without worry. (Not a rainstorm... Just rain.) But I wouldn't go swimming with it, or throw it into a lake/washer.
If you're going to dye your own, they do make sealant stripping chemicals that clean off that stuff so your dye will actually hold. (And it does matter. I did it in the wrong order once, sealant then dye, and that really didn't work.) The best advice I can give for that, is after you dye it, buff the leather with a soft cloth so that any extra dye rubs off before you seal it. (If the dye would rub off, and you put sealant on top, then the sealant clings just to the extra dye that rubs off, so the dye and sealant rubs off.... Bad stuff.)
But I kinda like the natural leather option, because now I can dye it the way I want. :D

CrushUWe are putting a resist on the leather so self dying will not be possible. Thank you for taking the time to respond we greatly appreciate it!

CrushUThey are, it's because of the leather they're using. It takes some tooling to get a clean edge on and they likely aren't taking the time.
It's a really odd choice of hide for the application. If you were to grade leather on a durability scale, this is the Caterpillar BullDozer of leather. In the event of a Nuclear holocaust, this is what we'll all be wearing in 30 years like slabs of bark strapped to our softer bits, it's the only thing that won't have rotted, been eaten or burned for warmth/used for bandages. I've used this stuff quite a bit. One of the things I used to use it for was door hinges in outdoor areas where I didn't want to deal with the hinge rusting. Performs identically well to it's steel counterpart on a full sized door.

Today has been a great experience for our business! We've learned a lot about what this community wants in a leather deck box! Big thanks goes out to Tolarian for bringing these desires to light! With that in mind lets dig into this box a bit!
This is a dyeless box! No worries about rub off if your box gets wet! Also we have treated the outside of the box with a resist to help it hold its form! Still it is best to keep these boxes away from water it is leather after all!
The box is designed for the cards to face the side of the box like in the picture. This way you don't have to worry about cards getting caught in the joints!
Big thanks goes out to Massdrop for working so hard with us! We look forward to working with you all!

Gunnar_HelgasonThe boxes in the video are dyed. The boxes for sale on Massdrop are dyeless. Sorry if that was confusing and I hope we cleared it up for you. Thanks for checking us out!
Hey everyone, so far the community has made some great feedback on this drop and we have been following along closely with Pandoric Gaming. We are happy to announce some changes to this drop that reflect the input of the community.
The colored Commander Deckboxes are no longer available on this drop. Instead, Pandoric created a new natural leather version today and the first run of them will be available to the Massdrop community in this drop.
Since this will lower the cost of materials and eliminate part of the process, we are also happy to let you know that the pricing for the community is improving by $10 on both drop points. There are some other improvements that come along with the new version of the box and @PandoricGaming will describe those a little more shortly.
Finally, as a token of appreciation to the community for their help on improving this drop we are shipping each order out with a copy of Evolution Charm (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=124047).
For those of you who didn't see what was going on with these boxes before, I'm embedding Tolarian Community College's review in the description. I'd like to thank him for the major part he played in this process as well.

I think these look awesome. I have seen the review by TCC, but honestly the only thing I have a problem with is the leather coming slightly off the latch. The other stuff doesn't really bother me since it can be prevented by being cautious. The price is a bit steep, but that's genuine leather for ya.

WillocalpyseThank you! We totally get they aren't for everyone but we love em! If you don't mind check out our video showing how that isn't too much of an issue if one at all!

PandoricGamingSure, but I'm deployed right now and wouldn't want to have one where I'm at due to the extreme weather conditions, but I'll take a look and consider getting one later.
Edit: Good explanation of the video. And no, it doesn't seem like much of an issue. TCC did a really good review, but I do think it was extreme with the scenarios.

Hey, lust wanted to give a shout out to the positives of the box, it looks amazing. I have to give them props for the real leather, and the metal is awesome. Now, I probably won't be buying one of them right now, because I put a lot of money into competitive decks, but I am definitely going to keep an eye on them. With a few improvements this could be a beautiful product down the road. I personally think it would look cool to have metal framing around the box. this would solve almost all of the problems. Except obviously the contact with water thing. But it's real leather, people should know that dyes come off in water. Overall I think people are coming down a little hard, I like the idea and I look forward to new and improved versions.
