Five months ago, Massdrop collaborated with Panta Clothing on a collection of ties. They were made of 100% silk, and they came in a variety of swatches, as voted on by members of Styleforum. To say the drop was a success would be an understatement: Panta Clothing literally ran out of fabric after the Men’s Style Community ordered 350 made-to-order ties from the New York-based clothier. For this drop, Panta is offering a cotton-silk tie, and again it’s available only on Massdrop. But this time around, Panta is prepared.
Note: At checkout, you have the option to select a tie width of 8 cm or 9 cm and a length of 147 cm or 157 cm.
A blend of 75% silk and 25% cotton, the fabric offers a raw silk-like texture. Because it's mostly silk, it knits and drapes well. Even with the addition of cotton, the tie is as light as your average silk tie. It works well with textured winter fabrics like tweed and flannel, but given the color range, it also works great in the spring and summer, adding texture to worsted suits and sport coats. Each tie is constructed in a 6/7-fold style, and are untipped and feature hand-rolled edges.
