Panzera Breuer Automatic Watch

The Bauhaus Movement—a design aesthetic spawned in 1920s Germany that preaches simplicity, geometric congruity, and functionality—has proven that it’s here to stay. For proof, look no further than the enduring popularity of Bauhaus-style timepieces. They’ve been in production since the birth of the movement, and they’re still being designed today. Among the newest watchmakers to try its hand at Bauhaus is Panzera, founded in 2013. This Australian company began producing its Breuer 44 in 2014, and the reviews were nothing short of complimentary: “A beautifully simple watch,” says WristReview.

There’s no denying that Bauhaus inspired the Breuer series. On the Breuer 44, a clean and crisp dial features little more than applied hour markers, which are lumed; stick-thin black minute markers; a small square date window, which can be set using the crown at 3 o’clock; and three slim hands, with the hour and minute hands offering a subtle lume. A domed mineral crystal also pays homage to the Bauhaus Movement, while a display caseback offers a look at the movement.
