I was looking at these on amazon a while back, does anyone know how secure these are with actual use? I intend to use it with my gopro on my camelbak.

ShreksDonkeyI've only used it with a pro DSLR with a big pro lens attached (much heavier than a GoPro), and it is very "secure" in that it won't fall out of the mount, the mount won't fall off, etc. (It comes with an allen wrench for tightening the mount to the camers). The camera and, to a larger extent, the lens do bounce around quite a bit while you're walking around. This can be improved somewhat by attaching the rig to a bigger, stronger belt or backpack shoulder strap. Putting a rig on a small camelback or a lightweight pack (a thin piece of webbing) is not going to be very sturdy IMO. Expecting it to capture video in such a situation might be a difficult ask. At the same time, if you cinch down your shoulder straps, use all available other straps, and basically create a sturdy thing to mount it all to, you should get decent stability. Try duct taping your GoPro to your Camelback and see if it works. That's about the stability I'd expect.
