Stylish and functional, Peak Design camera straps are versatile enough for use out in the field or walking around town. There are three styles: the Slide Lite, the Slide, and the Leash Read More
Amazing strap! I use this with my Panasonic GH5 and I love it. Easy to remove upon packing my camera into my bag and just as easy the put it back on.
Not sure of the deal here as Peak Design sels it for the same price.
I have several of these and find them to be great straps. They are solid and sturdy and distribute the weight of the camera across your shoulder and neck very well. Especially the full size model.
The one thing that bugs me about them is that the two metal length adjustment levers on the straps have the possibility of scraping, marring, and dinging your camera or lens when you stuff the camera and strap into a compact camera bag. Plus there's a lot of material to fold up when you put it in a small bag.
I hate that kind of unnecessary cosmetic damage. Makes your gear look shoddy. The metal hardware is more damaging than those more basic straps that have those small, low profile adjustment sliders.
If that's not a concern, however, this is a really nice strap.
I bought the clutch a while back. It's comfortable and sturdy as hell.
One thing to note: The default plate it comes with fits some tripods, but is somewhat chunky (pics from their website):

I decided to replace it with one of the low-profile anchor mounts they sell on their website. I haven't had any problems with this setup over the past year.
I really don't understand why these are so popular and well-reviewed. They work, but they're ugly and clunky as hell. The attachment toggles on your camera are huge, ugly, red plastic. The clips that fit on the toggles are enormous and get in the way of holding the camera. I got the Slide Lite in black, and the red accents are distracting and look cheap.
Peak Design must have the best marketing department in the industry. It's baffling to me how these are the go-to in so many camera strap discussions online. I'm interested in suggestions for a functional camera strap that is pleasant to use and decent looking.
I have the Peak Design Slide Camera Strap and the Clutch Strap and they are both great! I love the ease and adjustability of the Slide strap and I was recently on a 2 week trip where my camera was more important than my wallet and WOW! I was super impressed with both straps. I used the Slide on the camera and on my Camera Bag and the Clutch strap as we hiked and walked through historic areas to capture interesting and gorgeous views. I have a Nikon D750 and was switching between a couple of lenses so it was not lightweight but the Clutch actually let me feel comfortable keeping it in my hand for hours on end. Well worth the investment and I have never had any issues with any of my Peak design gear - I own a lot of other things from them too!
CalaverasgrandeI believe the black version is vegan friendly, it has no leather accents. Most if not all of PD's black products - bags, straps, etc. - are vegan. The materials used elsewhere are polymer derived, and where there would be leather accents it is replaced with a black material. Please correct me if I'm wrong, I know I've read this information before a long time ago. Perhaps reaching out to PD's customer service line would give you a direct answer.
CalaverasgrandeLike someone else said. Only the ash version uses leather. Since the black version has no leather are you going to buy it? Probably not. Trolls like you make vegans look bad.
I recently saw in a Fuji group on FB that some people have trouble with the triangular split-rings that come with Fuji cameras when they attach PD anchors to them.
I made a video to show how to install install the anchors to these split-rings to prevent this type of failure. In the video I call the hitch a "double lark's head", but apparently the more accurate name is a "prusik" hitch.
The idea is that it broadens the connection to the split-ring to distribute the load and prevent the split-ring from opening up.

SitwonNice suggestion. Late last year, my PD anchor somehow wiggled its way around the triangle split ring which resulted in my camera/lens smashing against concrete. Using your method definitely would have prevented that from happening.
Since then, I've been using a plastic split ring cap which has been a great solution. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07H1YZ5X7/
