I also received a black one, but I'm happy with it! Blue was my least favorite color for these but I couldn't justify paying more on Amazon for a different color. Kinda sucks that Massdrop will ship stuff out even if it's the wrong color though. I'll keep that in mind when ordering in the future.

Quick update for the group! We've been in contact with the vendor and are awaiting updated shipment estimates from them. We are following up with them first thing tomorrow morning and should get a bit more visibility in regards to when we can expect these in our warehouse. We will update the group as soon as these are on the way.
Currently we expect that these will be in our warehouse inline with the expected ship date listed in the drop description page.
Thanks for your patience and expect an update from us on 5/5 or sooner if something comes up.

Hey guys! I have this one. Got it at full price ($14). I use it with my mirrorless Sony NEX 6. And it holds it quite nicely with 50mm f/1.8 Sony lens. I suppose it will hold my Nikon D80 DSLR, but maybe a bit shaky. For mirrorless it's FINE. I got some great timelapses with that tiny tripod. Highly recommend it!

I've had one of these for a long time. It'll work with an SLR as long as you don't have a long/large lens mounted. The advantage is, it weighs next to nothing, so you can always have a tripod with you. It can also be velcroed to a pole or a fence. As long as you keep the center of gravity in between the legs, it's not going to topple over.

Was this designed with just point-shoot cameras or would a DSLR of the right weight be alright on it?

Is this safe to use my Mirrorless panasonic on this? I feel like it would just flop over with a longer lens on.

GL1TCH3DIn one of the product pictures it shows that the tilt/pan joint is a compression/friction fitting around a ball. So you should be able to turn the camera to have a leg in the same direction as the lens without issue. (lens direction moves about 60 deg counter-clockwise in the top page picture.)
You might have to crank a little harder to get the compression/friction joint to not slip though.
