I was looking forward to this drop but hoping for a much better deal. I buy alot of my paper and ink from GouletPens.com and their normal price on Pelikan Edelstein ink is $22.40 a bottle, so $44.80 for 2 bottles. This price at $46.99 is higher, granted the shipping is lower than Goulet but since I will most likely already be ordering something from them that is a non-issue. Then we also have to add in the longer wait time in doing the drop, March 6th vs Goulet 2-3 days from order. I was really hoping this price would be around the $18 a bottle range.

WrathenI agree with you. Pelikan Edelstein is certainly good even at this price, but this isn't a very good deal. The seller of these inks, that made this deal with Massdrop, is very smart. First, one of the two bottles must be black, which every seller always has in large stock. The good side: Edelstein Onyx is a nice color, it isn't as deep as Aurora, but it allows some shading. The bad side: many fountain pen users (and certainly most of those who would spend more than $20 for a bottle of ink) already have a stock of their favourite black ink, selected after a lot of trials and error. So unless their black is Edelstein Onyx, a bottle of it would probably remain unused. Second: there's no limited edition Edelstein available. I understand the lack of 2012 Turmaline and 2013 Amber, but neither them nor 2014 Garnet and 2015 Amethyst are available. Pelikan sell the limited edition inks at the same price of standard ones, so throwing in a couple of them might have helped this drop a lot.

AlexGkGarnet is already out of stock and Amethyst, AFAIK, wasn't released yet.
Other than that I agree with you and @Wrathen.

Well, I admit my error about the Amethyst, it seems it isn't widely available yet outside continental Europe, but Garnet is available both at Gouletpens (US) and Cultpens (UK). I try not to mention my country (Italy), where all four of them are available, and not because they don't sell well. Sometimes I think that Italian pen stores order in stock of 1mln pieces. ;)

Thanks for looking into prices and availability, we always try to offer the best selection and price, but sometimes better supply or pricing is available to members in certain regions or online.
Because of the community's response, we've been able to work with the vendor and offer an even lower price if the drop reaches 40 participants. Thanks to all for making this happen!

JonasHeinemanThanks, I'm sure this will help the drop a lot. I'm just sorry I won't join this one, as I already have a couple of bottles of the Edelsteins I like. But if you're ever to do another drop for Noodler's inks, count me in already! They're almost impossible to find in the EU!
