Product Description
The fourth in Pelikan’s vintage-inspired M101N range, this special-edition fountain pen is a replica of the 1937 original: now a highly sought-after collector’s item. It features the original’s smaller size (just 4.8 inches capped), along with its solid 14-karat gold nib Read More

Shipping a $500 pen via FedEx Smart Post... Amazon overnights granola bars.
The lowest price on Amazon I could find is $495. Even at auction on eBay it fetches more than the lowest price point here. This drop is actually good value. It's just that for $350 there are other pens I want more.

TherocAgreed. This pen just isn't special enough to warrant the insane price Pelikan is asking. This is the second or third time I see it on MD, which means they aren't exactly flying off the shelves. The whole situation must make the authorized dealers stocking this pen positively giddy...

I love Pelikans, but it is my imagination or are they churning out tons of pricey "special editions" and then dumping them on the market

CharlieChapinYup. It's a common practice lately, not only with Pelikan.

I like my Pelikan pens. I have 4. I just don't see the $500 value for a plastic pen.

waltburkMy only Pelikan is the one dubbed the perfect pen- M800, costing 300 bucks all inclusive. Might as well be my only non-Japanese premium FP that I get separation anxiety from. LOL

$445 on nibs.com and it will get tuned for free by mattishaw. This is a horrible deal on massdrop.

jaredfYeah. It's a beautiful pen, but I've spent enough on my M805 Stresemann, which needs a nib adjustment & tuning.

wow this thing is sexy... I don't understand how it could be so expensive though. Well out of my rational budget unfortunately

Could we maybe get a writing sample with the included ink?

writerstephenIt's the standard Pelikan 4001 royal blue, just in a sligh fancier bottle.

AsatyrWasn't really my point. It would be nice to see a writing sample of the pen, and since it comes with a bottle of ink, might as well use it to make the sample. Unless their inventory won't allow for it.
