Just went through checkout selecting a F nib. @Massdrop you need to fix the special instructions to accurately represent the nib selections or fix the nib selections during checkout to match the stated restrictions of M or B.
zayliaI wondered the same thing! The current "sale" price most places is $330 so not sure why the increase.
$329 at www.fountainpenhospital [dot] com (M only available)
$325 at www.fontoplumo [dot] nl (prices in Euro , less a voucher code, shipping is free - EF not available)
$325 at www.appelboom [dot] com (prices in Euro, less voucher code, shipping is free - EF/F/M/B avail)
Will look for the next drop and hope for better.
I wanted a Medium so thankfully this drop will deliver, but I’m really curious why there are no EF or F options. Is this just stock kicking around from the last drop? From what I can gather on other Pelikan threads here, Massdrop is not an authorized Pelikan dealer, so I really dont understand where these are coming from.
I just got one of these last week (in my pocket right now, actually). It is a fantastic writer and a good deal at this price. Consider buying one nib size finer than you normally would.
Even though I am very upset with Massdrop because they just started another drop within a couple of month with $30 reduction.
Here is my impression on Pelikan M605. It has very thick nib. I got fine nib but it writes like medium. I got Pelikan 205 - steel nib fine. It is thicker than that.
Also it writes very wet. Compared to all other fountain pens I have. Faber, other Pelikan and Pilot vanishing. It also leaked once in my pen case ( I carried mine in my backpack )
I think I got a lemon. What is the return policy on the massdrop?
A gorgeous pen but be aware of broad / wet nib.
zhanggooYou didn't get a lemon. The gold nib'd Pelikans are more flexible and generally put down a wetter line than the steel-nib'd birds, and it's because of this that you'll see a thicker line. I can safely say that all of my gold nib'd pelikans have a thicker line than my steel ones.
Just paid 329 for this a month ago. Now where was that? Oh yeah, it was here! https://www.massdrop.com/buy/54186
Mine hasn't even shipped yet and MD's running the drop again at $20 less. Thanks, Massdrop!
TomaCzarI agree. This is really bad move on Massdrop. I just received mine - like one week ago. And now it is sold at $30 dollar less. This is not good move. Very disappointed by Massdrop.
This is a fabulous pen, and at the current price, it's a steal. You won't get any warranty with it via Chartpak, but the price is very good nonetheless.
I have one of these and they're wonderful to write with.
Why don't any of the Pelikan drops have gold (600 vs 605)? I have a few Rhodium pens, but I really prefer gold unless it is an all-black pen. What I dream of is a good drop for the m800 Grand Place.
SkipPpI think 600 appears before. However, it appears that this white-transparent only has rhodium-plated nibs. Yet the good thing for pelikan is that you can always buy nibs of your preference to change the one stock on the pen, if you really like the barrel design.
SkipPpI haven't followed the Pelikan drops per se, but I don't think this would look good at all with a gold clip and trim. NOT a fan of white and gold as a combo. And if you're not gonna do gold on the outside, you're not gonna do it on the nib.
I'm wondering if Pelikan is trying to clear these out now.
I suspect the chance of seeing the 800 Grand Place here is fairly low. If they followed the pattern of the 600-sized Cities and Places series, there's one, large-ish run, but that's it. A Renaissance Brown, quite possibly. But not a Grand Place. Mind, I don't blame you. I have the 600 Grand Place. It's either 1st or 2nd favorite of the several releases, along with the Athens. That said, I missed the San Francisco. It didn't photograph well. When I did see it in person, I had already blown my pen budget. And they didn't make that many.
