DriderThe Massdrop of inks - "Rohrer & Klingner Writing Ink (3-Pack)" here gives a very good chance to get a lot of ink for little expense. ALL of Rohrer & Klingner inks are super easy to wash /flush. The Scabiosa and Salix inks are useable for office work that has to be water-proof. I mix the two inks 50/50 and it makes a nice "Plum-Blue" that is permanent. Though Salix and Scabiosa are Iron Gall - they are super safe in your pen if flushed regularly and used regularly. I flush mine every two weeks - no problem.
As for a nice compliment to this particular M400 Tortoiseshell-White, the Rohrer & Klingner "Alt-Goldgrün" should be a nice compliment to the colors in the barrel of the Pen.
One can't beat the price on this Massdrop of R&K inks!

DriderPelikan's generally have a nice generous ink flow. You were wise to pick the extra fine nib, based on how you describe your writing style. I put fine or extra fine nibs in my Pelikan pens. Just works out best for me. The medium gold nib can be really juicy. I have an m800 with a medium nib. The way I've found to control the heavy ink flow is use a slower flowing ink in it. I use Aurora blue and the pen writes like a dream. The plated steel nibs write generally one size smaller and are stiffer than a corresponding gold nib. You can pick one of these up in the $25. Range. This pen has a gold nib so you might find That it has a nice ink flow and a bit of flex to it.
As far as basics. Check out FountainPennetwork.com, a wealth of info on pens, ink reviews, cleaning and maintenance. Valuable resource for reference material. YouTube has thousands of tutorials on inks and almost every pen you can think of. I know for a fact that there is a thorough review of this very pen by Stephen Brown. Gouletpens.com is just one of many places to shop for cleaning supplies, inks, and most important ink samples. They also have quite a few instructional vids. Buying sample vials of ink from goulet for a couple bucks is a great way to try out a bunch of inks for way less than the cost of a whole bottle.
Paper is a personal choice. The mos popular fountain pen friendly stuff is Rhodia, ClaireFontaine. Also Tomo River from JetPens. Better quality stationary like Crane , south worth, etc will work fine. Again fountainpennetwork.com is a great source of people sharing their favorite fountain pen friendly copy paper experiences. I've just discovered the MIDORI calendar and organizer has excellent fountain pen friendly paper. Something very hard to find in a business organizer.
Stick with the better quality tried and true, safe inks to start. Parker, Waterman, Pelikan, Pilot, Aurora, and Diamine are all safe for virtually all pens. Hold off on the iron gall and permanent "bulletproof" inks until you get comfortable with your pen and how to maintain it. Buy a $20. Pilot Metropolitan or JinHao x450 for $9. to test out these specialized inks. This is a very special pen. Don't put anything you are not absolutely sure of inside of it.
I know you're really going to enjoy this pen. The only down side to buying a Pelikan, is that you WILL want more. They tend to reproduce. Hope this helps. Enjoy

DriderI don't know if you ever found a good ink for document signing and such, but you might want to look into Noodler's Black and Noodler's X-Feather. Both work well on more absorbent papers, particularly X-Feather. Also, both inks are permanent when used, Black more so than X-Feather.
There are some other good bulletproof inks out there that I just haven't tried, and some of them come in colors other than black. I don't have a Pelikan pen in my collection yet, but I hope you're thoroughly enjoying yours.

A_WilliamsThe Pen is fantastic! I get so many compliments, ... Err.. "IT gets so many compliments from clients". I did end up buying 4 50mL bottles of Rohrer & Klingner Alt-Goldgrun, and it's simply beautiful!

As a new business owner, and one that is growing successfully, at a purely surreal pace, I wanted something to represent my first milestone, and I think this pen will be perfect for those occasions I want to wow my clientele when it's time to sign the paperwork.
I know there's a lot of experts around here reading through the many comments on these discussions. I wonder if anyone could recommend the right accessories for my new piece? As I'm just starting into this, it's really the basics I'm looking for. the needed accessories for day to day use. I can look into the frills at a later time, when my business hits the next milestone. I'm looking for things like the best reccomended inks for use on premium as well as everyday copy papers when it comes to document signing. I like the gold ink in the picture with this piece, but no idea if it's practical, or where to get it? What is the process on changing color if I want to go that route, is it possible or not recommended?
I went with the EF for my nib selection, as I want something faster drying, and I don't like a massive ink flow when I write. I tend to pause from time to time, and the less I have to pick up the pen the better. Not to mention my cursive can get a tad on the smaller font size.
Any help is much appreciated, especially information gathered and assessed from past experiences from various products.
