WillionaireThe MSRP is at 845 but that is usually never the street price (store price). Pelikan is a luxury pen brand known for making their piston filling pens. This filling mechanism from what I understand is difficult to make. TWSBI is only pen that I know of that makes a relative inexpensive piston filler pen that can fill reliably. Add that the mechanism is most likely brass not plastic in M800 and M1000, handcrafted in Germany not outsourced to be cheaper or increase profit line 18k gold nib (good writer and sexy) and on the 2nd largest in the well-known Souveran line, and you got some idea of the price.
I believe Special Edition means at some point they will be stopping production and this color won't be made any longer. This also gives it a little price bump for the collector and people looking for this burnt orange color. If it were Limited Edition which make a certain number like 1000, then it would even be higher price on the market.
Bailey2013Those look cool! I will save my bucks for a Pelikan though! :)
I will try and visit the Bexley factory in OH at some point; their pens are also very nice.
Let me know how that Itallix works for you; they look good
titrisoli got an Italix parson's essential medium stalic through a recent drop and I must say it's smoother than my platinum 3776 medium, when you hit the sweet spot. Fearing that I might not get a chance on another Italix (knock on wood), I ordered the captain's commissioner after having done my homework with available reviews online. The italic nib gives you sharp thin lines, yet surprisingly smooth.
titrisoljust received my italix captain's commission in burgundy. True to popular reviews, this pen writes like a dream. I've just shifted my line width preference from F to M, however, for this pen, I opted for a broad cursive stub. I would never bother to purchase any italic-nib pen from brands other than Italix. For the price as well as QUALITY, you cannot go wrong with an Italix brand pen. You can't be a fountain pen aficionado if you're obsessed with price-value ratio. Any how, I'm saving for a pelikan M800 for now. Before that, no more pens unless it's an Italix
