This pen can be had for cheaper on ebay (lowest I saw was $250 w/ free shipping) and here: https://www.thepencompany.com/product/pelikan-souveran-600-fountain-pen/

brettellingsonWell, that link sends me to a 225 GBP cost pen, which is around $315. As for eBay, I'm sorry, but I don't do eBay. I've been scammed in the past and the "buyer protection program" only got me 33% of what I spent back. That was a few years ago, so things may have improved, but I don't feel ready to test the waters on an expensive item like this.

silverthornneReally? For me the price shows up as $263.52. I wonder why it would be different for you.

brettellingsonIt actually shows the price in USD? If so, it probably messes up due to my IP. I'm in Puerto Rico and many places mess up when trying to understand what that means. For instance, I play PC games through Steam and Steam always offers me game ratings based on PEGI rules, which is an European ratings board, instead of showing me the ratings from the ESRB, which is the US ratings board for that.

brettellingsonIt's definitely a UK site (free shipping to the UK). It says $266 for me today. So it's probably updating the site based on exchange rates. Shipping is quoted to be $14.25 which brings it to be almost exactly the same as Massdrop. I'd be very careful with sites like this as if it charges you in sterling then your credit card may charge different exchange rates (not to mention fees) than the website advertises. There may also be US customs charges (depending on if it's stopped at the port). Obviously if you live in the UK, then this is probably a better deal.
EDIT: It says the price includes VAT (20%), so if you can get it without VAT - which you should be able to if you're outside the EU - then it's significantly cheaper. (Unless the automatic calculator excludes VAT which I've seen some websites do). Obviously there may be local (e.g. US) taxes to pay at customs - although I've never been charged tax for anything under $1500.
