Looking for a decent headlamp with a red light. Can you switch the red lamp on these independently (i.e. without cycling through the white light modes)?
There are contexts (like astronomy "star parties") where shining a white light even for a moment may be enough to get you shouted at, or even kicked out...

manualdidactUsually with the Petzl headlamps you choose between white and red when you turn the lamp on. Just hold the on button for a couple of seconds to change from the previous setting. If the white led was previously chosen then a quick press of the on button resumes with the white led. A longer press when starting will change over to the red led without activating the white led. Same process to change back from red to white.

mark.thneedThanks for the info -- I guess I'll have to pass on this one, then. Need something with a separate control or some kind of deterministic user input so I can know for sure that only the red light will illuminate, without having to remember the setting previously used.

manualdidactI have one, bought the Actik, Core, and Noctilight, luv it but you just hold it to go to red, click from red goes red strobe and seems to have memory.
