Got mine a today. Listen pretty lightly all day until just a few moments ago. Started listening to some very heavy bass music and noticed the left speaker clipping, however the right isn't. It sounds like the driver is bottoming out. Amp is a Magni 2 Uber, set on high gain with the volume about 65%. Thinking about returning as a manufactured defect.. thoughts ?

AntivanityDon't use high gain. The X2's have only 32 ohm drivers and require little to no amplification. Either switch to low gain and lower the volume or connect directly to a dac.

AntivanityI'm also using Modi/Magni 2 Uber.....at 32 Ohms, the Magni can output 3 TIMES the rated power handling of these cans, so I'm pretty much permanently leaving the amp on Low gain to avoid the potential of blowing them up. But considering all my other cans top out at 200mw......the 500mw rating of the X2's is a huge relief! Even on Low gain, I worry about blowing the others up...not so with the X2.
My current stable: SHP 9500, modded SHP 9500, and K7XX.
These are my new favorite headphones, by a decent margin. They tick off all the boxes of what I was looking for, and I am EXTREMELY satisfied with my purchase! At $200, these were an absolute steal. Are my pads glued? Absolutely......big farkin' deal. I'll get rid of that, the rest of the assemblage is wonderful.
Thanks Massdrop!
