The pair I got from mass drop is different in sound comparing to the one my friend had. Sound stage is not as wide, vocal is not popping. Bass is not as full. I've already burned in mine for over 12 hours. Also the bridge is clamming too tight. I'm kind of disappointed. I tested my friends x2, and it made my hd650 sounds like...well, just another headphone. But the x2 I got from md does not have the same sound quality. I need to return this.

Jzuui16/02/10: Sad to hear that. My X2's just arrived, and love their tone and build quality (at only $200 clams!). I've been using HD650's as my daily drivers for the last 5 years, and while these X2's certainly have a quite different sound signature, they still sound great and hold their own very well indeed. Did you listen to yours through the same source and amp as your bud's X2's? Did he have any EQ goin' on? These X2's sound mighty sweet through my Gustard X-12/H10 stack via Jriver. Mine have the glue but it's very minimal, and now that I can inspect this personally, I could not care less about that issue with my set, at least. As always, YMMV...
Update 16/02/14: The microfiber-velour earpads are kinda itchy but otherwise very comfortable. Cord is nice but length makes it awkward, use a Sentey 1m for anything close up or portable. These things are sensitive to EQ alright. Still enjoying them, would buy again.
Update 16/02/17: The X2's are just starting to break in - they're my main HPs since I received them. Enjoying the crap out of these. Still getting used to the fuzzy mircofiber earpads - I won't be swapping them out just yet but we'll see when the weather starts to warm up. Speaking of earpads: the "Bass Plus Velvet Replacement Ear Pads Cushion" set I bought off ebaye just arrived. Sealed in individual bags, I poked a small hole in one bag so I could stick a finger in and get a feel. I can definitively say they look and feel exactly like the OEM pads - sans any glue of course. I like having the spare set on hand and since these came with the backing plate, I know I can be a little...aggressive mounting alternative pads on the originals when I eventually do a pad mod.
Audio Cable: while the Sentey cable is excellent in every other aspect, I've found that its nice fabric sleeve is also very microphonic to the touch connected to the X2. :-( So I've switched to an Ememo #1 3ft cable. Also reasonably well-crafted, it's rubbery coating is nearly silent and has been tangle free - it's a keeper, recommended. Speaking of cables: I'm using a HengSheng 6.35mm male to 3. 5mm female 1ft adapter to the 6/35mm output jack on the Gustard H10. I'd prefer to avoid adding the extra length and connections in the path to the X2s, but the risk of damaging a 3.5mm plug or jack when using the stock solid adapter is just too great for me, as I roll & spin around in my office chair a bit and the cable can get snagged at times. Just a precaution; it hasn't degraded the sound quality that I've noticed...yet. ;-)

ThuddacleeseGood to hear someone else is enjoying their X2's! I received my K7XX just 2 days prior to the X2, and immediately after hearing my X2 for the first time, my K7XX became neglected :/ I am bringing my K7XX out of early retirement for a week or so, simply because they're too good to NOT use! The K7XX is NOT a bad purchase for the price.....the fact that I personally prefer the sound signature of my X2 should not be taken as a disparagement of them. Had I not had the X2 to compare side-by-side, I would have been quite happy with the K7XX, other than with the headband which annoys me :p
Basically, the K7XX is for those seeking the traditional "flat" response curve, IMO.....the X2 is decidedly NOT flat, but I find it overall more fun for daily listening. X2 has a much more pronounced low end (still pleasing, and not overpowering), a wider soundstage, more comfortable headband, and I greatly appreciate the metal construction, which has a much more quality feel. The K7XX has more forward mids, and probably slightly more detailed mids and highs overall. The K7XX takes quite a bit more twist on my volume knob before they "wake up".....A-B'ing them by simply switching HP at the same volume setting as X2 would be a mistake.
I am of "a certain age" where conserving my hearing is a priority; I tend to enjoy quiet listening, and the X2 plays nicely into that with their low Resistance and high Sensitivity. I like playing the Limbo with my volume knob! "How low can these play and still sound good?"
For reference, I'm using a Schiit Modi 2 Uber and Magni 2 Uber stack. I have zero EQ going, and listening is done in traditional everyday manner with YouTube, Amazon Prime streaming, and VLC Player for my personal MP3's and FLAC's. I do not yet have Foobar, but it's on my radar :p
I have SHP9500's, which I consider my $100 benchmark. I consider K7XX as my $200 benchmark. I consider X2 as my $300 benchmark, even though only paid $200 via this drop :) I missed the Fostex X00, but those will be my $400 benchmark at their next Drop.

Thuddacleese@Thuddacles, you mentioned that your stock X2 earpads are itchy. I have noticed the same thing as well as them having a strong chemical smell - which should not be there at all. Do your earpads have a chemical smell?

Bongoman8Nope, no chemical smell of note on mine other than the 'new can smell' when out of the box, which faded after a few days. Itchiness is fading, (some of which may be me growing accustomed it, true) but it's not a deal-breaker in my case. I use these for about 80% of my hp time these days. No dye or staining issues encountered yet either. I have noticed these stock pads are a lint magnet, but they also be cleaned with a few thumb swipes which I find somehow gratifying. I'm beginning to get the impression that these may be surprisingly (annoyingly, for some?) durable pads.
