FluffeepuffI doubt that its your ears, I have the same issue regarding L-R channel, if you focus on it its easily noticeable. Just reddit it and you will come to know that this quality issue is present since their release (way back in 2014),

new2audiophileWhen I was researching this headphone (last year) I saw all of the random issues that were popping up. I'll give it another go tomorrow when I have some time to sit down with them. My other HPs are low end, Sennheiser PC360, and I had a similar perceived left channel being louder when I focused on those, as well. The imbalance I picked up was barely noticeable.

Fluffeepuffneither am I an audiophile, I own some budget headphones (Brainwavz Hm5 and SHP 9500). To check the channel imbalance more accurately I used reverse stereo option in VLC and MPC and it was noticeable at least with my x2 where, Brainwavz were dead accurate in both left and right.
I hope your HP's won't have much imbalance

I spent a lot of time playing with the EQ and listened to some mono sound files. I tried my Sony monitor headphones and my X2s. On both I perceive left a tad clearer and louder. I'm confident it's my ears. However, there still may be a slight channel imbalance, it just isn't bad enough for me to notice at the frequencies I tried. When I listen to music and don't try and focus on an imbalance it sounds great and balanced. When I start isolating the balance is when I can tell something is a bit off. My $0.02. I'm likely going to keep this pair and see how it behaves with more hours behind it.

Fluffeepuff@Fluffeepuff, it might not be your ears. It could also be the interface you are plugging the headphones into. If this problem is repeatable with more than 1 set of headphones, you can start to narrow it down to cabling, interface, or your ears.

Bongoman8@Bongoman8 - All of what you said rings true. When comparing the other HPs I eliminated the possibility of the cable. It could be my soundcard, haven't tried the same test just using onboard jacks. Will give that a shot this weekend. I've tried the stock and a mogami cable with my X2 and they sound identical as far as balance. My earpads didn't have any smell and I find them comfortable, although for whatever reason I'm not that fond of the fabric that covers the foam. Just doesn't feel nice to my hands, but feels perfectly fine on my head. No dye leakage when left on paper for extended periods. Also no itchy sensations for me.

Fluffeepuff@Fluffeepuff, thanks for letting me know about the earpads on your X2. It must be that the QC and/or source of earpads for these HPs are changing from oem manufacturer to manufacturer. If you notice even a whiff of chemicals, this is not right since the earpads touch our skin for long periods of time. I have never encountered this smell with any headphones I've used (i.e. Koss, Sennheisers, Sonys, Audio Technicas, etc.). Otherwise I find the X2 have very deep, immersive sound. Phillips really needs to think about manufacturing key components (e.g. earpads) in Europe where health and QC standards are higher.

Bongoman8I agree 100% I love these headphones, but that chemical smell made me refund mine, just not risking anything medically. Probably fine, but better safe than sorry.

EDIT: Just got them in 2/9/16.
First impressions - Fit and finish is perfect. I didn't have the issue with the cord manager falling apart. Headphones are very comfy although the tops of my ears to graze the suspended piece of fabric in front of the drivers.
I'm playing around with the EQ & sound card settings (PC headphones for music, gaming, movies, etc) but can vaguely tell there may be a slight boost in what's coming out of the left channel vs right at mid/high freqs. It could just be my ears, I'm not sure. I'll let them burn in for a couple days and reevaluate. I did notice that when I swapped old & new HPs I had the same perceived left channel be a bit 'brighter' and louder. So it's extremely likely it's my ears.
So far I'm very happy. Will update.
