Here's the second post (in a series of 2 posts):
THE DEAL:
Massdrop experience:
While I wouldn't bet much on when the item will be shipped, Massdrop does try to hold to the estimated date posted. I don't think this drop has had major hiccups, but I haven't read too far back. If there is a significant delay (more than a week), it's usually vendor related. Based on my experience, Massdrop appears to be committed to you getting what you paid for, even if it takes a little while longer than expected.
If you want this right away, buy it somewhere else. You will wait. Most orders ship within a few days (on either side) of the estimated ship date. But if you go with the drop, you'll save money and become that much more a part of this nifty community.
The Price:
Objectively speaking, this is a very good deal. Individually priced, and for CONUS shipping, it's like getting two Plumix pens for free - and that's using usual online or competitive pricing for each item - not Massdrop's posted MSRP for the lot.
Who should be interested in this:
[Feel free to read this with any tone you'd like ... personally, I thought of Jeff Foxworthy when I reread this.]
- If you're interested in everything but 2 Plumix pens (and don't mind a couple extra thrown in), it's a good deal for you.
- If you have a few extra Metropolitans around but wish you could fit them with an italic or stub nib, this is a great deal.
- If you color-code everything, this might be the deal for you.
- If you're always being pestered by others if they can try your fountain pen, this is probably the deal for you (Varsities make a great, "Sure, try this." pen.)
As usual, I hope this helps.
Cheers.
