I don't think there's any rule that says because you buy them together that this ink must be used with this pen. I've wanted Chivor for a while and already have several appropriate pens for it. I also have several Pilots - would like another - and they work great with the other inks in my collection. So I'm looking at it as a way to get two things I have on my list of wants - it doesn't matter if they happen to come as a package deal. It is really a great value considering the 50 converter comes with it.

rajiYeah, this. I'd get them both because I've been wanting to try both, but it doesn't mean they have to be used together. This set is actually pretty perfect for me because I tend to get only one of a kind of pen, and since all the drops for the Pilot Metropolitan have been doubles, now I can get one with a great ink at a really cheap price.

romeviSame here! I've been wanting a Pilot Metro and this ink, but wouldn't use them together (almost always use these inks with dip pens). Goulet has been selling out rather quickly, and it's currently $27.00 on Jetpens, so this is looking pretty good to me! http://www.jetpens.com/J.-Herbin-1670-Anniversary-Fountain-Pen-Ink-50-ml-Bottle-Emerald-of-Chivor/pd/14633
