Part 3: Dealing with difficult Pens (the Metropolitan in particular):
There are many factors that could influence ink flow. Here are some common ones with common-sense solutions:
1. Problem: pen isn't clean. Solution: Clean pen. This can be done with shot-glass worth of distilled water and a drop of dish-soap added. Then make sure to rinse with distilled water. Using a squeezy bulb thingy (like those included in ear wax cleaning kits) will make this process MUCH easier and faster.
2. Problem: obstruction in feed. Solution: See #1.
3. Peices aren't put together properly. Solution: make sure nib is seated in feed (there's a little notch where it should fit nicely), make sure nib/feed is snug in grip/section, make sure C/C has a snug fit.
4. None of the above and it still won't write. Solution: Saturate the nib/feed. Try to push a little ink through the feed until you start to get a drop forming on the tip of your nib. Do this over a towel and not near anything you want stained. For the cartridge, just squeeze it a little. Same for the included converter. For the CON-50, twist a little out. If you get a drop on the paper towel that's okay. Now you're good to go.
5. Pen or ink haven't been used in a while. Solution: Something's dry and causing an obstruction. See #1.
Hope this helps.
Cheers.
