I know that Massdrop isn't a place where I can get my purchases immediately, but DAMN, the order I put in for another item a week after this transaction got delivered 8 days ago. This is taking way too long for just pens.

porkrindYou're right. AFAIK, this isn't the first time this has happened with this order. I'm still going with my original guestimate that those in CONUS will receive their orders either just before or after the 4th of July weekend.
When the converters were added @JonasHeineman was clear that the addition would add about a week to the estimated delivery date for all orders placed (not just those for the pens and converters). He also said that he couldn't guarantee that it would be only a 1 week extra delay. In a previous post, I suggested a timeline that might be followed when Massdrop gets the shipment in their warehouse. In the past, when there has been a delay like this, it has been due to a hiccup with the vendor. These things happen.
When I make a purchase like this, I expect 2 things: (1) Truth in Advertising and (2) Transparency.
@JonasHeineman did not sugar-coat the delay that adding the converters might cause. But, in this case, we have no idea what is causing the delay. Any idea of what is causing the delay, why some have gotten their pens and others are still waiting, etc. is just speculation on our part.
What is disappointing to me is the lack of transparency. Some time ago, I mentioned that many of the "updates" were too vague and generic. After that, I noticed a significant improvement in communication with Drop participants. This was great. I think I even posted that I appreciated this improvement.
For this Drop we are at a loss as to what's going on. I have no problem with waiting a little longer (within reason) to get my order. I *do* have an issue with not knowing (beyond generic updates) why I'm waiting significantly longer than expected.
I do believe that Massdrop is shipping completed orders as soon as they can. I don't believe recent updates have been especially good in helping us understand the extended delay. I think a clearer, more specific explanation would go a long way to calming the concerns some of us have.
I make these long posts because, although I have no affiliation with Massdrop, I like the idea of it and I hope it continues to grow and do well. And I hope some of my contributions have helped others. We are to expect another update tomorrow, the 29th. Writing more than "the warehouse staff is standing by", "thanks for your patience", etc. would be appreciated by many, I'm sure.
As usual, I hope this helps fellow participants. I also hope this constructive criticism helps Massdrop be a better company.
Cheers.

GonzoTGreatI really like the idea of Massdrop, too. I'm finding the lack of answers on this very frustrating, like you say, the updates tell us very little. I don't mind waiting, however, I'd like to know why, and an approximate timescale. As this is my first drop, and therefore, only experience with Massdrop, it's almost certainly going to be my last! ETA Considering that the converters were originally going to be the cause of any delay, I really do not understand how some folks have received their pen/converter combination order, and yet some pen only orders haven't even been despatched. I wonder what order the pen only orders are being dealt with. It very obviously isn't even close to first come, first served.
