The Metropolitan is a great all-around fountain pen. In fact, you'll be hard pressed to find one as good at twice the price. In this particular drop, Massdrop seems to have outdone themselves in terms of making so many options available, albeit some in limited quantities. But I don't need to tell you about how awesome the Metropolitan is. With 6 days remaining, nearly 200 have been purchased and the lowest price-point reached.
The pen is an excellent introductory fountain pen, whether for yourself or someone else. As such, there may be some of you for whom this is the first drop your seriously considering joining.
Many knowledgeable members have posted excellent information in this discussion. On pp. 34 - 35 of this discussion, I wrote about the pen and the Massdrop experience during a previous drop. If you're interested in perusing these earlier posts, there are a couple of things to keep in mind:
1. While the vast majority of the information is still good (otherwise I would be recommending them), there is some information that is specific to the drop that was being offered at the time of the posts. In particular, I made a comment about the description that is not relevant for this drop.
2. Additionally, I made a plea for the powers that be to consider adding the CON-50. For some reason, addition of the CON-50 converter may have complicated the drop more than it was worth. While I (personally) prefer the CON-50, this (Metropolitan 2-pack) is a very popular and straightforward drop. I wish there were a way to added the CON-50 without complications. Based on the previous experience, I don't know if that's possible; that's something that only Massdrop can address. Perhaps there will be another drop just for the CON-50, but this drop seems to be focused on a vast selection (great!) of Metropolitans and, for this reason, I think this drop is very worthwhile.
Although I haven't joined yet (as of this writing), I will likely get a couple "Thank you" gifts for friends before this drop ends. They'll think I spent way more than I actually did and I might succeed in spreading fountain pen interest to more people. For now, I've joined two previous Metropolitan drops.
Enough of my intro. One of the posts (on p. 35) has a picture with writing samples comparing 5 different, compatible nibs. Two of the five are available in this drop, the others are compatible nibs that come with different Pilot pens.
I hope this post and my earlier series help.
Cheers.

GonzoTGreatI have to agree 100% with you about this pen and this is my 3rd drop getting this pen as I now prefer the fine nib for my planner. I have enjoyed reading all your information on this pen and I too, agree this is a wonderful pen for those considering a fountain pen. I have been new to fountain pens and now will write with no other. The smoothness and ease of writing is wonderful! I recommend this pen very highly. Thank you, GonzoTGreat for all your input! You did not steer me wrong.
