New to fountain pens; these will be my first. I come from a 0.3mm Pilot G-Tec like the ones getting dropped right now. I chose a fine nib for both my pens but I was wondering if there were finer nibs I can use with these if I find the fine nibs still too thick.

ZALHERAI can't recall if Pilot makes an Extra Fine nib. It's likely they do, but you should be just fine. These are japanese nibs, and as such are generally finer than their European counterparts. A japanese fine is like a European extra fine, Japanese medium is closer to a European fine.

ZALHERAJapanese fine nibs are quite fine in comparison to European fines. You should be fine with the fine since Japanese EF nibs are quite scratchy.

DirgesInTheDarkThanks for the reply from both of you. One question though, how do I know what nibs are compatible with these? I might want to try different nibs later but have no idea where and what to look for. Wanted to try an italic nib some day.

ZALHERAPilot makes a number of fountain pens with interchangeable nibs, although not advertised as such. These nibs can be swapped out between each of these pens with relatively little fuss.
Although the Metropolitan fine nib give you a pretty thin line (even by Japanese nib standards), an EF nib can be found on the Pilot Penmanship . Compatible italic/stub nibs can be found on the 78g, labelled as the "B" nib, and Plumix. The 78g is a discontinued model but still widely available at a reasonable price. All of that said, this is a good deal for an excellent pen. If you're still curious, I would recommend doing a web-search for images comparing the different nibs.
Hope this helps.

GonzoTGreatThe other point to note is that Pilot DO NOT sell the nibs for these pens on their own. In other words, if you don't like the F nib on the Metropolitan, your only option (for EF) is to buy a Penmanship (for around $8.25) and swap nibs. Which may still be worth it - the Penmanship is a weird-looking plastic pen, while the Metropolitan has a much more substantial appearance - but you're having to buy a whole pen to obtain a nib... Then again, I think there's a good chance you'll find the Metropolitan Fine is plenty fine enough!

JamerelbeAh, it makes sense. If anything happens, I might pick up a Plumix from a local store that carries them and try out the different nib on it when I get the funds. From what everyone is saying, I don't think I'll want to get the EF nib haha.
