So the 532 is 5.1 which is not Dolby Atmos compatibel. The 832 is Dolby Atmos enabled so is it a 7.1? My understanding to be Atmos compatable 7.1 is minimum since 7.1 Standard becomes 5.2.1, .2 being taken from the original 7 floor surround speakers and being ceiling mounted. That leaves 5.2.1 or 5 floor surround drivers, .2 being 2 floor channels being changed to 2 ceiling Atmos drivers and 1 being a sub. So is the 832 7.1 or 5.1

Audigeorgeit's 5.1 or has a 3.1.2 mode for atmos. it doesn't have enough outputs for 7.1

asteroidsmastuhSo, the front firing Atmos speakers with L/R channels replace the rear speakers...is that correct?

asteroidsmastuhYeah I that was what I was originally asking. Until this Receiver came along and got Dolby s approval, if you wanted atmos you had to get a 7.1 channel Receiver and that could be configured as a 5.1.2 atmos system. But this unit starts as a 5.1 Standard surround sound channel configuration and can become a 3.1.2 atmos. First one to do so. That’s y I was confused.

PaiceyfanNot always. You could choose to replace the rear speakers with angled reflecting forward atmos drivers or you could replace the rear speakers with over head ceiling speakers if you wanted. But yes, I believe no matter what atmos configuration u choose, they both replace the rear speakers.
