I’m not a mechanical keyboard enthusiast, but want to get into this lovely world and am choosing this Massdrop to get me started.
Can anyone recommend any combos to go for in purchasing this mech? Thank you so much!

jacqstrapAs in switches, or something else? If you are looking for switches, that's a pretty deep well, and everyone prefers something different. However, if you're just getting into this, I'd recommend one of either Blues (if you like it loud), Browns (if you don't like it so loud, but still want some kind of feedback), or Reds (if you want something unlike any non-mechanical keyboard). If you decide on Blues or Browns, go for the Gateron version, as far as I know there isn't any advantage retooled Cherry has on those switches, but if you want Reds, either get the Cherry versions here (I prefer retooled cherry linear to Gateron), or go over to Novelkeys and pick up at least 45 of the Kailh Box switches they have (Reds, in this case, but they have loads of variety), or maybe the Silent Blacks they have, which have sound dampening in the switch, and (for this specific batch) they have the same springs as Reds. Heck, if you want to try something interesting, Novelkeys has plenty of neat stuff, and even sells switch testers, in case you want to try before you... Well, not buy, because you'll have to buy the tester itself, but commit to soldering a whole board of these. Anyway, hope that helps, and welcome to the community! EDIT: also, apparently they'll be adding options for Kailh switches for this drop, so that might be a good option. I also am not sure about the Kailh Box Browns, but the Clicky Box switches are good, I hear, and so are the linears, so they're probably a safe bet.

jacqstrapI said something wrong, if you buy from elsewhere, you'll want at least 48 switches, and I recommend getting 50. That way you have some spares in case something is messed up. I have broken some switches on occasion, and been very grateful to have some extras, and once a switch came busted. Don't worry too much about that, it almost never happens, but if it does you'll appreciate it.
