Got the planck in yesterday, assembled it today. Very neat keyboard, not very easy to learn how to use. Hardest part of assembly was the stabilizers- this image helped me a lot.

The padauk wood and steel look amazing together, but I had to trim the wood around the USB port to get it to fit properly- it also isn't flush with the steel plate edges on two sides by about a millimeter.
Anyway, looking forward to using this keyboard and getting strange looks as soon as I learn to type with it.
Also, the oem keycaps are set up like this:

Additionally, the default layout on the website has the U I O keys swapped around compared to what the keyboard actually comes with.

e_l_tangSure- the default layout listed on the OLKB website/elsewhere is this: http://www.keyboard-layout-editor.com/#/layouts/d31dc4048e2dade0da36cbea0703ba73 The UIO keys are out of order, the actual layout is this: http://www.keyboard-layout-editor.com/#/gists/816491f19641ae50c3c0

VexsI couldn't find any incorrect images of the default layout. Can you point me to the one(s) you saw?

e_l_tangHere is the page that has links to the layout: http://ortholinearkeyboards.com/planck-pcb , and here is the layout linked to. http://www.keyboard-layout-editor.com/#/layouts/d31dc4048e2dade0da36cbea0703ba73 The UIO keys are all funny.

VexsAre you sure you didn't just make a mistake when soldering? Not saying you did, but it's a possibility

lobstronomosityI don't actually think that's a mistake you could make while soldering. Irregardless, no, as the querty layout does have UIO instead of the other layout- similarily, the listed default had the colemak and divorak switches in the wrong space, had extra fn buttons, no reset listed dispite there being one, and no media control keys listed.
That is to say, the firmware on the board has a completely different layout than what's listed as what it comes with.

VexsAfter doing some investigation, I realized that you've been looking at the old default layout. The new one is documented in the description of this drop.

e_l_tangGood catch- looks like someone needs to update the github/website.
I actually had no idea there were f-keys above 12.

VexsYeah, Jack is the one who does that, but he's been pretty busy lately with this drop.
There are more 12 function keys; the rest just go by different names.

VexsWasn't expecting this but strange looks, yes and more :) This is what I got for my last planck walk: in a bar at lunch time, a man asking me what sort of professional toolbox these (keyboard and keyboardless laptop) were part of; at an exhibition right after, a carpal tunnel syndrome lady wanting to know if this was a dedicated solution and where to get one (more preonic interrested, the blanks intrigued here but didn't frighten her as she was already touch typing) she though I was there to demo it! At the library by the end of this same day, two geeks walking around me with curiosity without daring to talk, a little later, one girl sat next to me and was so mesmerized by the keyboard that she only turned two pages of the magazine she was holding in half an hour!

VexsLike a surface with a larger screen and heavier or like a macbook but without a keyboard and with a touch screen.
