Hi all,
A heads up to those of you who wanted the Century model, it's live right now: https://www.massdrop.com/buy/platinum-3776-century-fountain-pen
The music nib is available in the Bourgogne and Chartres Blue bodies, but note that quantities for some nib and body combinations are very limited. Get them while they last!

I'd like to request the version of this pen that comes with the music nib.

Pen delivered. Using the last couple of days. The thing leaks pretty badly. Cleaned it twice. Will clean once more. But so far my fingers are pretty inky

chuck.hickeyHi @chuck.hickey -- I saw your very kind email to Customer Support and wanted to reply.
I'm sorry to hear that your pen didn't arrive in perfect working condition, that's disappointing.
We'll check into the vendor's policy for initial defects and let you know if we can help on this.

Thanks again for joining the drop with the community. We submitted the group’s order with the vendor for the Platinum 3776 Fountain Pen shortly after the drop ended and they have begun preparing it for shipment.
Once the group’s order is ready at the vendor’s location, they will send the bulk shipment to our fulfillment center where we’ll break it up into individual orders and ship them off to you as soon as possible.
The moment we receive confirmation regarding the shipping schedule from the vendor, we will provide you guys with updated information on the status of your package.
Expect an update from us on 12/16 or sooner.

Only broad nibs left, how unfortunate.

By the way didn't early on in the drop the specs said Black Steel nib? (I could be wrong but I thought it did, it certainly wasn't gold-plated before).
Hi everyone,
We received the following information from the vendor, and I've updated the information on the drop page accordingly:
"The sealing mechanism is similar to the slip and seal, it’s the generation before the official change. The inner seal will help prevent the ink from drying out, just not as completely as the slip and seal mechanism."
Any members who participated in the drop are welcome to cancel orders before it ends on Friday, December 5th at midnight EST in the "Transactions" tab of your Massdrop profile, or by emailing 'support@massdrop.com' with the subject line "Order Cancellation - Platinum 3776."
Again, thanks to the community for noting this discrepancy so we could address it promptly. I apologize for any confusion and appreciate your understanding. -- Jonas

Firstly, thanks to @Aramchek @ecao @KarlBlessing @RP68068 @Vpnq @ironhelixx and everyone who has chimed in regarding the product information.
This drop is for Platinum 3776 model #PTB-5000B #1 only - not any varieties of PTB-10000, PTB-15000, or PTB-25000. Platinum Pen Co. uses this Century video on their 3776 full-line product page, but I agree that it's not representative of this model individually, so I've removed it. As members have already noted, the nib is gold-plated stainless steel.
The sample that we received does have an internal plastic cap (photo below). This cap resembles Platinum's 'slip-n-seal' cap, but is not clearly visible through the opaque resin. I will contact the vendor on Monday to confirm the type of internal plastic cap on this model. If the information given was incorrect, we'll give anyone who joined the drop a chance to cancel.
Finally, I want to thank the community for voicing concerns about this drop. While we strive to always provide complete and correct information, sometimes mistakes are made. I take responsibility for this error, and appreciate the information that you provided here to keep other members informed.
Thanks for your participation and understanding. -- Jonas

JonasHeinemanThe USA version of the site has it all mixed up, so it makes it confusing. The older 3776 (that appears closest to the Century 3776 in design) is no longer in production. As only the Century 3776 shows here on their Japanese site. http://www.platinum-pen.co.jp/e_fountain_century.html
Only the Century line has the Slip-N-Seal cap which are PNB-10000 (Black (#1), Bourgogne (#71) , and Chartres (#51) ), and the "Nice" PNB-20000R. They all have inner caps, but only the Century line has that spring-loaded design to create that "seal".
Most of the other models that mention 3776 is because of the nib model/design. Not even their flagship The Platinum President has the slip-and-seal design, but does sport a 14K 3776 nib.

I'm guessing there's no way to report a drop to the site's admins, since even in it's text it's not the correct information and if the drop actually goes thru there's going to be a lot of disappointed people.

KarlBlessingPerhaps it would be fair to give them until noon Pacific on Monday just in case no one is monitoring this thread right now......past that, then I would wonder if this was a deliberate deception or if this was an honest mistake due to non-pen folk trying to sell a commodity with which they are unfamiliar to hobbyists.

SmashingTacosWe monitor the comments on the site, but keep in mind it's thanksgiving weekend and most of our staff are away with their families (most weekends, everyone works..).
We're absolutely not trying to misrepresent the drop, it was likely an oversight. We'll get it all clarified on Monday.
Thanks to everyone for bringing this to our attention.

The video of the 3776 Century should be taken down as it might be misleading to some buyers. It would be cool if the 3776 Century could be offered in the blue and red translucent finishes with all the cool 14k nib options (ultra-extra fine to music!!) .

RP68068I didn't even notice the video til you mentioned it. Yes it should definitely be removed as it's not a representation of the product being shown in the drop. (ie: Video shows the Century 3776, this drop is not for the Century 3776).
Also the actual text of the drop says " The new 'slip-n-seal' inner cap creates an airtight seal"
The 3776 does not have that, only the Century 3776 does.
