I think I figured it out. If you watch the video, it says to backflush for 4 seconds. I just doesn't specify how often you would need to do this. I assume when the flow slows down.

"..while regular backwashing (every 4 seconds) allows the filter to maintain optimal performance"
Is that a typo? Maybe every 4 minutes or 4 uses?

Hey Tyler, I wanted to join the 4L drop but the options still seem to be for the prior 2L drop. Can you update them please? Thanks!

I have the 4L version and it works very well. The trick is to back flush the filter after the first cup or two of water has been filtered. That removes any air trapped in the filter. Once the air is removed, it will filter 4 liters of water in about 3 minutes. If you add the optional carbon filter, count on it taking at least twice that long. I have found very little difference in taste when using the carbon filter so I don't use it any more. This 4L model is a must for group hikes/camping trips. I used mine this past weekend on a Boy Scout camp out with 6 people. The system is simple and easy to use even for 12 year old scouts!
